About Chhatna Chandidas Mahavidyalaya
In the decade of 1930 during the freedom movement of the country, a new Socio-educational movement was also started along with progressive peasant movement in the district of Burdwan. Hatgobindapur is a traditional rural area of the said movement of Burdwan District. Dr. Jnananjan Guha Neogi took the initiative to organize famous ‘Lantern Lectures’ to popularize Socio-educational movement along with Dr. Bhupendra Nath Dutta by establishing Liabrary, Literacy Centre etc.
The local people of the area took the initiative to establish a centre of higher learning after the name of Dr. Bhupendra Nath Dutta to commemorate his endevours for the cause of development of this locality. Late Dr. Ram Narayan Dutta, a leading medical practitioner, Sri Ganesh Choudhury, a dedicated social worker of the village Hatgobindapur and many other personalities took this decision through a mass convention in 1982. Infact Sri Ganesh Choudhury is the main architect of the college. He has extende and still extends his whole hearted co-operation for the cause of development of the College.
Later on a confirmed decision was taken in a meeting held on 21-08-1995 with Dr. Ram Narayan Dutta on the chair. An organizing managing committee was constituted and a final proposal was sent to the Government of West Bengal and the University of Burdwan for approval of the College.

The college offers the following subjects in different streams for the academic session 2019-2020.
Arts
B.A.(General) - English, Bengali, Sanskrit, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics,Geography &music.
B.A. (Hons.) - English, Bengali, Sanskrit, History,Political Science, Geography, philosophy and economics.
Subject combination offered: A student having Hons. in a subject is required to study two general subjects. General Course students are required to study three general subjects from the list of subjects mentioned above. But it is to be noted that combinations like Sanskrit - English, Pol.Sc.- Philosophy, History-Economics cannot be taken. only one subject among sanskrit, english and music can be taken.
Note: A Student applying for Honours must have obtained at least 45% marks in aggregate.
