Arsha College, being situated on the bank of river Bandu, was firstly affiliated to the University of Burdwan prior to the establishment of Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia. The year of foundation of this college, being registered under Arsha Educational Society, was 2009. With the tremendous effort of many social workers of the locality, irrespective of their political background and having a common objective to impart higher education through the long cherished dream of a college was ultimately become fruitful.
Arsha College, being situated on the bank of river bandu, was firstly affiliated to the University of Burdwan prior to the establishment of Sidh-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia. The date of foundation of this College,being registered under Arsha Educational Society, was 27th August 2009. With the tremendous effort of many social workers of the locality,irrespective of their political background and having a common objective to impart higher education through the long cherished dream of a College was ultimately become fruitful.This dream came true when the successors of Late Kalicharan Kumar of village Arsha donated the present land measuring 12 acres approximately and spontaneous collection of donations from various aspects of locality possessing well - wishes and enthusiasm towards higher education through College. since most of the area of Arsha block is situated at the foot of Ajodhya hill having approximately 25% of the people belonging from minority community and rest of the people are either S.C or S.T or O.B.C and a very few from General category the spread of higher education was obstructed year after year beacouse the people had less interest to admit their children in other Colleges for apart from their dwelling places due to poverty and early marriage specially for their Girl child. With the help of M.P & MLA and Zilla parishad fund, through the construction all the classes are running smootly though the initial year all calsses were run at nearby Aharrah Girls ' school Premises. Sri sahadeb Patra, the Ex-Principal of Manbhum Mahavidyalaya worked as an honorary principal of the College since its inception to the date 19-11-2012, The College staff are very sincere regarding their duty and homely atmosphere exists With the teachers and the students. The Honours courses in Bengali, English, History, Education, Geography, Santali, Political Science, Sanskrit and mathematics rae going on.The pass subjects are Bengali, English, History, Education, Geography, Santali, Political Science, Sanskrit, Philosophy and Kurmali. Pure science subject Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry were introduce from the session2014-2015. The rapidly growth of the students is one of the important features of the College.At present there are 1500 number of students in the College and solely depending on the donation obtained from various well wishes, enthusiastics, eminent persons of our locality the College Library consists of 4330 books and effort is going on to purchase more books from donation or Government Aid.The result of last three years of the College is highly satisfactory and regarding cultural activity the performance of the students by taking part in District Youth Parlimentary competition and Sports since 2012-2013 is undoubtebly praisable.The College is a distance of about 24 kms Purulia town and it is almost 4kms away from arsha as well as from Sirkabad.The natural cool and calm atmosphere of the College far apart from distric Headquater hopefully looks forward under the guidance of Shri Shantiram Mahato,the President of the College and the Honorable Minister-in-Charge,Department of Paschimanchal unnayan Affairs under the Government of West Bengal.
