The author has given a detailed description of Mauritius in his essay by the same name. The author has also extended his study to the flora and fauna of Mauritius. He finds that the trees found in Mauritius are smaller and the bonsai in the inner parts of the forests are also smaller. The fauna are bats, monkeys, deer and giant tortoises of the Aldabra variety.

Mauritius is prone to cyclonic storms and this is an annual feature. The elders come once in 15 years and leave a trail of destruction. People have become accustomed to cyclones and have learned to live with them. The Raja cyclone, a giant cyclone, hit Mauritius on February 6, 1975, flattening the vast area. The island has recovered from the devastation. Trees are planted in congested areas. High-rise buildings have been built, platglass picture windows have been installed and roofs have been fitted with grandeur in mind.

On a cruise in a glass-bottomed boat, the author gets to see sea shells, crabs, shapeless ugly creatures crawling in the dark depths and a school of fish, bright lemon yellow with black bars. Fish with disgusting spikes all over their body, fish with long tail, fish with battered face are also found.

The government is eager to encourage foreign entrepreneurs to start their industries here. The author is of the opinion that the living space will shrink with the industrial development. Cars and trucks will increase. Their roads will have to be widened to carry the load. The price of land will increase and flats will appear. Cost of living, pollution, unemployment, slums, taxation, control will be visible.

During his return flight the author could not see those scenes as it was dark. But he could imagine a changed situation in Mauritius in the future – industrialization with wide roads, high buildings, pollution, unemployment, slums etc. He hopes that enlightened people will guide the development of Mauritius and preserve this heaven on earth.

सरकार विदेशी उद्यमियों को यहां अपने उद्योग शुरू करने के लिए उत्सुक है। लेखक का मत है कि औद्योगिक विकास के साथ रहने की जगह सिकुड़ जाएगी। कारों और ट्रकों में वृद्धि होगी। भार उठाने के लिए उनकी सड़कों को चौड़ा करना होगा। जमीन की कीमत बढ़ेगी और फ्लैट दिखाई देंगे। जीवन यापन, प्रदूषण, बेरोजगारी, मलिन बस्तियों, कराधान, नियंत्रण की लागत दिखाई देगी।

अपनी वापसी की उड़ान के दौरान लेखक उन दृश्यों को नहीं देख सका क्योंकि अंधेरा था। लेकिन वह भविष्य में मॉरीशस की एक बदली हुई स्थिति की कल्पना कर सकता था - व्यापक सड़कों, ऊंची इमारतों, प्रदूषण, बेरोजगारी, मलिन बस्तियों आदि के साथ औद्योगीकरण। उन्हें उम्मीद है कि प्रबुद्ध लोग मॉरीशस के विकास का मार्गदर्शन करेंगे और इस स्वर्ग को पृथ्वी पर संरक्षित करेंगे।
