He let his clients talk and gathered information for multiple answers from which he would formulate his own advice for them. He had some questions that he usually asked to get clues as to what advice he should give to his clients. Three paise was charged for each question.

One evening, as the nut seller turned off the lights and every other merchant was getting ready to go home, the astrologer saw a man in front of him. The man challenged the astrologer by saying that if the astrologer gave him the correct answers to his questions, he would give him eight annas and if he failed, the astrologer would have to give him double the money back. The astrologer happily accepted the challenge. But when she saw the man's face by the light of a matchbox, she quickly returned the amount she had taken.

The man grabbed the astrologer by his wrist and said that he could no longer hold back. At last the astrologer agreed to speak for a rupee and he began. The man was shocked by the astrologer's revelations. He said the man was once left to die and was stabbed once. He also said that the man was pushed into a well near a field. The astrologer even goes to the extent of calling that person by his name - Guru Nayak.

Due to this that person is very happy and impressed by the knowledge of all knowledgeable astrologer. The astrologer advises the person to go back to his home town and never travel further south. He further says that the man he was looking for is no longer alive. He had an accident four months ago and was crushed under a lorry. To this the man says that he was looking for that man to take revenge and now that he is dead he will return home. The man leaves and the astrologer returns home. He tells about his life before meeting his wife.

He tells her that in his hometown he used to play cards, gamble, drink and quarrel. It so happened that one day he got into a fight with a man and in the heat of the moment, stabbed him. He pushed her into a well and left her dead.

He left his village thinking that he had another man's blood on his hands. But now he says that he can live in peace not because Guru Nayak is alive but he will never come back there again after today's session. Guru Nayak could not identify the astrologer and the astrologer easily escaped from the hands of his enemy. After telling his wife what had happened, he stretched himself on the pylon and fell asleep. His wife was happy to get the money paid by the stranger as she could prepare some sweets for her child who had been asking for sweets for some days.

वह उसे बताता है कि अपने गृहनगर में वह ताश खेलता था, जुआ खेलता था, शराब पीता था और झगड़ा करता था। हुआ यूं कि एक दिन उसका एक आदमी से झगड़ा हो गया और पल-पल की गर्मी में उसे चाकू मार दिया। उसने उसे एक कुएं में धकेल दिया और उसे मृत अवस्था में छोड़ दिया।
