The great revolutionary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was born on 27 September 1907 in Khatkar Kalan, Punjab. His family was known for patriotism. Arjun Singh was the grandfather of Bhagat Singh. Kishan Singh was his father and Ajit Singh was his uncle.
Bhagat Singh came in contact with great and famous freedom fighters like Lala Lajpat Rai and Ras Behari Bose. He was very attracted when he responded to the call of "non-cooperation" given by Mahatma Gandhi, later he enrolled in the National School in Lahore which became the center of revolutionary activities. Here he met great revolutionaries like Bhagwati Charan, Sukhdev and others. All these great leaders filled the spark of freedom in Bhagat Singh.
The British considered these revolutionaries as terrorists. When the revolutionaries came to know of this, they decided to drive away from the British using weapons, bombs and guns.
Bhagat Singh was a great thinker not only as the greatest revolutionary but also as a person dedicated to the society. They believed in collective ownership. According to Bhagat Singh, revolution does not mean violence out of the "spirit of freedom".
During the anti-British procession led by Lala Lajpat Rai, the police went for the brutal attack and killed Lala Lajpat Rai. This incident completely changed the life of Bhagat Singh. He decided to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai and shot. A British officer named Scott threw bombs in the Central Assembly Hall during the session. The bomb did not hurt anyone but the explosive sound woke the Indians who were in deep sleep and got up to fight for freedom.
Later the British officer produced Bhagat Singh in the court and sentenced him to Bhagat.
Singh was not at all afraid of death, rather he kept the spark of freedom alive through his strong and inspiring letters.
letter-1
His letter to Batukeshwar Dutt
Central Jail Lahore 21 March 1922
Dear brother,
I am not worried about death and I am ready to accept death with a smile. I do not want to escape the trap as some prisoners expect it. I am fortunate that I happily go to the gallows and show the world that I sacrifice my life for the nation.
I want to tell you that the spirit of freedom must continue and I ask all of you to bear all the problems that come along the way.
Jai Hind.
yours
Bhagat Singh
letter-2
Bhagat Singh's letter to the culprits
Dear friends,
Everyone wants to live. It's natural but I don't want it. 1 does not want to be held captive under sanctions. My name is already a symbol of Indian revolution.
If I survive it is my weakness, and the revolution will be perverted. I am ready to sacrifice my life for the country. This idea will inspire Indian mothers and they will want children to be like me so that we can put an end to imperialism.
I am sorry because I could not do anything for humanity but I have many countries and kept alive the spirit of freedom. I am ready to embrace death.

Bhagat Singh
