Keki Daruwala's poem 'Tiger' is a parody of Blake's poem 'The Tiger'. Blake portrays the tiger as a brute beauty, a majestic creation of God, a sign of the power of God. But Daruwala's tiger is a pathetic creature. Daruwala sets the tone for what he wants to say right in the beginning that the tiger is not burning bright. This is in stark contrast to the opening lines of Blake's poem, 'Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright, In the Forest of the Night. Day forest.

In the past the roar of the tiger shook the forest, the birds flew in fear and the monkeys cried out in terror. But currently, geckos gnaw on the ears of a dead tiger skin! God created the tiger as a beautiful animal with gold and black stripes, representing morning and night. But the gold no longer shines and the king of the jungle has hunted pigs and is hunted by humans and is nearing extinction. Thus, the Daruwalla tiger indicates the urgency of the need to protect the national animal of India, a wonderful creation of God.
