The Lost Child Summary in English

It was spring festival time. There was great enthusiasm in the atmosphere. People busy going to the fair could all be seen in a happy mood. Some used to walk, some used to ride on horses, some used to ride on bamboo and bullock carts. A child was also going towards the fair with his parents. He was very happy and excited. While his parents were moving with all their attention to reach the fair, the child enjoyed the beauty of nature with utmost curiosity.

The child's happiness reached its peak as soon as he stepped foot in the fair. His eyes were drawn to everything. The stalls of toys and sweets fascinated him a lot. He wanted them but was well aware of his father's harsh attitude.

However, his mother tried to calm him down and divert his attention to other things. The child was so busy looking at different things at the fair that he rarely lags behind his parents. Every time he wanted something but his parents discouraged him. As they proceeded, the child was distracted by the decorative items on the stalls. His mouth watered seeing the sweets decorated with gold and silver leaves.

'I want barfi', he murmured softly. But he knew only half as he had begged that his petition would not be heeded. So he went ahead without waiting for any reply. Then he was attracted towards a garland of Gulmohar but did not ask for it. Then he saw the colorful balloons and was filled with a strong desire to have them all. But he knew that his parents would say he was too old to play with balloons.

So he left. Then the child saw a snake charmer. He liked the music played by the magician and wanted to stop for a while to listen to it but again he got frustrated with his parents. Then he saw a roundabout and wanted to ride on it. This time he could not resist himself and called his parents. Not getting any answer, he started looking towards his parents. But they weren't there.

The frightened child looked for his parents everywhere, but they were nowhere to be found. Then he realized that he was lost and separated from his parents. He wept bitterly and tried to console her by offering her many different things to be sold at the fair. He presented her with sweets, balloons and garlands but the child refused them all.

He sobbed, 'I want my mother, I want my father.' Nothing could make her happy except her parents.
