इसी बीच फायर ब्रिगेड पहुंच जाती है और उसकी मां को बचा लिया जाता है। अचानक उसे पता चलता है कि उसकी पालतू बिल्ली गायब है। उसने उसे कहीं नहीं देखा है। वह गहरे अवसाद में चला जाता है।

दमकल कर्मियों को आग पर पूरी तरह से काबू पाने में पांच घंटे का समय लगता है। लेखक का घर लगभग पूरी तरह से जल गया है। इसलिए, वह अपनी माँ के साथ अपने दादा-दादी के घर जाता है। अगले दिन, जब वह पिछले दिन की पोशाक और उधार के जूते पहनकर स्कूल जाता है, तो उसे शर्मिंदगी महसूस होती है। वह बहुत दुखी है और असुरक्षित महसूस करता है। उसका पुराना स्कूल, उसके दोस्त, उसका घर और उसकी बिल्ली-सब चले गए हैं।

In this story, Zan Gaudioso tells his own story when he was a teenager. He enters a new high school and has a hard time adjusting to the new place and making new friends. Therefore, he feels lonely and isolated. He misses his old friends, teachers and of course the old school where he was leading a very comfortable student life.

One Sunday afternoon, as her mother was putting out a fire to keep the house warm and cozy, she suddenly saw smoke billowing out of the ceiling. In no time smoke fills the room and flames start engulfing the ceiling. Panicked, the writer and his mother hurriedly leave.

The writer runs to a neighbor to call the fire brigade, while his mother goes to the burning house to collect important documents and some photographs of her late father. Seeing his mother taking such a big risk, the writer panics and shouts at her.

Meanwhile, the fire brigade arrives and her mother is rescued. Suddenly he learns that his pet cat is missing. He hasn't seen her anywhere. He falls into a deep depression.

It takes five hours for firefighters to get the fire under control completely. The author's house has almost completely burned down. So, he goes to his grandparents' house with his mother. The next day, when he goes to school wearing the previous day's dress and borrowed shoes, he feels embarrassed. He is very sad and feels insecure. His old school, his friends, his house and his cat are all gone.

After school that day, he comes to the place where his house once stood and is shocked to see the damage. Anything that didn't burn was destroyed by water and chemicals that firefighters used to put out the fire. He has lost everything except photo albums, documents and a few other personal items. And the loss of her pet cat makes her so restless.

News of the fire spreads quickly at the writer's new school. Everyone including the teachers is deeply saddened and comes to her aid with books, clothes and school supplies. To see all this, the writer's heart trembles from within. He is defeated by emotion. People who had never spoken to him before are coming to him with some kind of help. In the process he is able to make friends and therefore feels happy and relieved.

A month later, the author is watching his house being rebuilt with his friends. Suddenly, a woman comes to him with her cat. There is no limit to his happiness. He jumps up and grabs his pet by the woman's arms.

He holds her to himself and cries with joy. His friends also hug the cat and jump around. Today is a great day for the author. The feeling of loss and tragedy vanishes all at once. He feels grateful for the kindness of his life, his friends, and the woman who brought back his cat and his happiness.
