वह अभी भी उन पुराने स्कूलों के बारे में सोच रही है, जब उनके दादाजी के दादा एक छोटे लड़के थे। पूरे मोहल्ले के सभी बच्चे स्कूल के प्रांगण में हँसते-चिल्लाते, स्कूल के कमरे में एक साथ बैठे, दिन के अंत में एक साथ घर जाते थे। वे स्कूल आज के स्कूलों से कहीं बेहतर थे क्योंकि वे छात्रों को बहुत मज़ा देते थे।

The pages of the book have turned yellow and wrinkled which proves that it existed centuries ago. This book is strange in that it contained the same words that he had when he first read it. They were not playing like that on the computer/television screen.

Tommy calls it useless because once the book is read it is of no use. He has millions of books on his television screen and no one can throw it away. Margie has the same opinion but is curious to know what the book is about. Tommy tells her it's about school. She hated school, but now she hates it more than ever because her mechanical teacher was taking exam after exam in geography and she was doing worse and worse. His mother sends for the county inspector who is a round little man.

He rips the television teacher apart and fixes her within an hour, only to Margie's dismay. He tells his mother that it wasn't Margie's fault, but that the mechanical teacher's geography field was prepared a little too early and has slowed it down to an average ten-year level. He assures Margie and her mother that there will be no problem from now on.

Margie is curious to know about the school that existed in the past. Tommy tells her that this is not their kind of school. That's the old type of school they had centuries ago. The students had a human teacher who taught them and gave them homework and asked them questions. Margie argues that a man cannot be smart enough.

Tommy further tells her that the teachers did not live in the house. They had a special building and all the children went there. Children of the same age learned the same thing. Now it's time for Margie's school. She goes to the school room which is right next to her bedroom and the mechanical teacher is on and waiting for her. She puts her homework in the slot with a sigh.

She still thinks of the old school when her grandfather's grandfather was a little boy. All the children of the whole locality used to sit together in the school room, laughing and shouting in the school premises, going home together at the end of the day. Those schools were far better than today's schools because they gave a lot of fun to the students.
