People everywhere have the same physical, mental and emotional experiences.

If we harm someone then we are harming ourselves because we are all connected to each other by the same thread of humanity. We should keep this thing in our mind that if we destroy other country then we are destroying our own land.

Since we are all the same, we should not take up arms against anyone because it is by such actions that we pollute our earth. The dust and smoke caused by weapons of war pollute the air we breathe. Therefore, all forms of violence must be stopped. It will lead us to a better life. Thus, the poet urges us that we should live in peace and harmony and work to spread brotherhood around us.

These are important things that enrich humanity. Poetic Devices Used in Poetry Poetry Scheme: The poet does not follow any recognizable rhyming scheme in this poem. This is a free verse. Rhetorical device: simile: a lonely body breathes like ours. They have eyes like us. Metaphor: The poet uses this device in the third line as he compares his fellow human beings to his brothers.

For example, like us: the land our brothers walk on, again uses it on the sixth line when he compares war to winter because there are fewer resources available on either side. For example, fed by a peaceful harvest, starved of a long winter of war, he uses it for the last time in the 18th line when he compares wars to hell.
