In this poem a mischievous boy did mischief when his mother was not at home. When she returned, the boy started telling his mother about the various incidents that happened in the house during her absence, before his mother asked why he had done so. She said that while she was out, a cup went off and broke itself. A crack appeared in the blue vase. He didn't turn on the tap but mysteriously the sink overflowed. He also expressed surprise at how the cat managed to turn on the washing machine (especially from the inside) or how he managed to raise the dough himself. He said he was horrified when the muddy footprints appeared on the new white carpet. He said that he was not the cause of all these incidents and that he was good and honest. He said that when he visited his grandmother, he thought the house was haunted by ghosts.

इस कविता में एक शरारती लड़के ने शरारत की जब उसकी माँ घर पर नहीं थी। जब वह लौटी, तो अपनी माँ के यह पूछने से पहले कि उसने ऐसा क्यों किया, लड़के ने अपनी माँ को उसकी अनुपस्थिति के दौरान घर में होने वाली विभिन्न घटनाओं के बारे में बताना शुरू कर दिया। उसने कहा कि जब वह बाहर थी, एक कप चला गया और खुद टूट गया। नीले फूलदान में एक दरार दिखाई दी। उसने नल चालू नहीं किया लेकिन रहस्यमय ढंग से सिंक ओवरफ्लो हो गया। उन्होंने इस बात पर भी आश्चर्य व्यक्त किया कि कैसे बिल्ली वॉशिंग मशीन (विशेषकर अंदर से) को चालू करने में कामयाब रही या कैसे स्वयं आटा उगाने में कामयाब रहा। उन्होंने कहा कि जब नए सफेद कालीन पर कीचड़ भरे पैरों के निशान दिखाई दिए तो वह बहुत डर गए थे। उसने कहा कि वह इन सभी घटनाओं का कारण नहीं था और वह अच्छा और ईमानदार था। उसने कहा कि जब वह अपनी दादी के पास गया था, तो उसने सोचा था कि घर भूतों द्वारा प्रेतवाधित था।
