Once upon a time there lived a skilled archer in a city. Although he was short in 'height' and had a curved back, none could beat him in archery. The king met the archer and, impressed by his huge personality, joined him in the royal army. The little man's dream had come true. He was now part of the royal army, though disguised as an assistant to the elder.

In those days a man-eating tiger lived freely in the forest. The king sent for the elder man and ordered him to kill the tiger. The older man told the younger archer what the king had said. They went to the forest together and soon, the little bow killed the tiger. The king was greatly impressed by the gallant act of the elder man and rewarded him with expensive gifts.

A few days later a wild elephant came on the streets of the city and started killing people. The elder man was asked to go and kill the elephant. The older man carried the younger archer on his shoulders and as usual the younger archer hit his target and killed the elephant. The king was filled with the admiration of the elder man and rewarded him. The older man started treating the younger man as his servant and started abusing him a lot. The little archer was very sad.

After a few days the king of the neighboring country attacked the kingdom. The king immediately entered his army. The elder man was mounted on a majestic elephant and was wearing a shining armor. The younger archer knew that the older man could not shoot, so he also took his bow and arrow and quietly sat behind the older man on the elephant.

When the elder man saw a huge enemy army in front of him, he trembled with fear. The younger archer asked him to sit quietly, but the older man was so terrified that he jumped off the elephant and ran back from the battlefield towards the city.

The little archer took the elephant fearlessly to the battlefield and killed many enemies with his impeccable shots. All the soldiers were inspired by the little man's act of bravery and he soon forced the enemy army to withdraw. The king now understood that it was a small archer who was a learned hero. He made him the chief of his army and rewarded him with bountiful gifts.

कुछ दिनों बाद एक जंगली हाथी शहर की सड़कों पर आ गया और लोगों को मारने लगा। बड़े आदमी को जाकर हाथी को मारने के लिए कहा गया। बड़े आदमी ने छोटे धनुर्धर को अपने कंधों पर ढोया और हमेशा की तरह छोटे धनुर्धर ने अपने लक्ष्य पर प्रहार किया और हाथी को मार डाला। राजा बड़े आदमी की प्रशंसा से भर गया और उसे इनाम दिया। बड़ा आदमी छोटे आदमी को अपना नौकर मानने लगा और उससे बहुत बदतमीजी करने लगा। नन्हा धनुर्धर बहुत दुखी हुआ।

कुछ दिनों बाद पड़ोसी देश के राजा ने राज्य पर आक्रमण कर दिया। राजा ने तुरन्त अपनी सेना में प्रवेश किया। बड़ा आदमी एक राजसी हाथी पर चढ़ा हुआ था और चमकता हुआ कवच पहने हुए था। छोटा धनुर्धर जानता था कि बड़ा आदमी गोली नहीं चला सकता, इसलिए उसने भी अपना धनुष-बाण लिया और चुपचाप हाथी पर बड़े आदमी के पीछे बैठ गया।

जब बड़े आदमी ने अपने सामने एक विशाल शत्रु सेना को देखा, तो वह डर से कांपने लगा। छोटे धनुर्धर ने उसे चुपचाप बैठे रहने के लिए कहा, लेकिन बड़ा आदमी इतना घबरा गया कि वह हाथी से कूद गया और युद्ध के मैदान से वापस शहर की ओर भागा।

नन्हा धनुर्धर हाथी को निडर होकर युद्ध के मैदान में ले गया और अपने अचूक शॉट्स से कई दुश्मनों को मार डाला। सभी सैनिक छोटे आदमी की बहादुरी के कार्य से प्रेरित थे और उन्होंने जल्द ही दुश्मन सेना को खुद को वापस लेने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया। राजा अब समझ गया था कि वह छोटा धनुर्धर था जो पढ़ा हुआ नायक था। उसने उसे अपनी सेना का प्रमुख बनाया और उसे भरपूर उपहारों से पुरस्कृत भी किया।
