एक बार एक किसान और उसकी पत्नी अपने बेटे के साथ एक गाँव में रहते थे। उन्होंने एक पालतू जानवर रखने की योजना बनाई जो उनके बच्चे के लिए एक साथी हो सकता है। फिर एक दिन किसान एक नेवले के बच्चे को घर ले आया।

कुछ महीनों में, नेवला का बच्चा एक झाड़ीदार पूंछ के साथ पूरी तरह से विकसित नेवला बन गया। एक दिन पत्नी को बाजार के लिए निकलना पड़ा और उसने अपने पति से बच्चे की देखभाल करने के लिए कहा क्योंकि वह नेवले पर भरोसा नहीं कर सकती थी।

किसान ने उसे आश्वासन दिया कि उसे नेवले से नहीं डरना चाहिए क्योंकि यह बहुत ही मिलनसार जानवर है और बच्चे को चोट नहीं पहुँचाएगा। पत्नी चली गई और किसान ने खेतों की देखभाल करने का फैसला किया और वह भी चला गया। घर लौटते समय वह अपने दोस्तों से मिला।

जब किसान की पत्नी किराना का भारी थैला लेकर घर लौटी। उसने देखा कि खून से सना नेवला गेट पर उसका इंतजार कर रहा है। गुस्से में आकर उसने बैग को नेवले के सिर पर फेंक दिया और उसे मार डाला।

वह बच्चे के लिए रोते हुए अंदर भागी, उसने देखा कि पालने के पास एक सांप मरा हुआ है। अब, उसे अपनी गलती का एहसास हुआ और वह पछतावे से भर गई लेकिन कुछ नहीं किया जा सकता था।

Once a farmer and his wife lived in a village with their son. They planned to have a pet that could be a companion for their child. Then one day the farmer brought a mongoose baby home.

Within a few months, the mongoose baby became a fully grown mongoose with a bushy tail. One day the wife had to leave for the market and asked her husband to take care of the child as she could not trust the mongoose.

The farmer assured him that he should not be afraid of the mongoose as it is a very sociable animal and would not hurt the child. The wife left and the farmer decided to look after the fields and he also left. On his way back home he met his friends.

When the farmer's wife returned home with a heavy bag of groceries. He saw that a blood-stained mongoose was waiting for him at the gate. Enraged, he threw the bag on the mongoose's head and killed him.

She ran inside crying for the child, and saw a dead snake near the cradle. Now, she realized her mistake and was filled with remorse but nothing could be done.
