दो दोस्त जुम्मन और अलगू अच्छे दोस्त थे। वे एक-दूसरे की अनुपस्थिति में एक-दूसरे के परिवार की देखभाल करते थे:

उनके बीच मतभेद जुम्मन की एक बूढ़ी चाची के कारण पैदा हुआ। उसने अपनी संपत्ति उसे इस समझ के साथ हस्तांतरित कर दी थी कि वह उसकी देखभाल करेगा। लेकिन समय के साथ वह और उसका परिवार थक गया और उसका अपमान किया। फिर उसने अपनी रसोई के रखरखाव के लिए मासिक भत्ता मांगा। मना करने पर वह मामले को ग्राम पंचायत ले गई।

अलगू को मौसी द्वारा प्रधान पंच के रूप में नामित किया गया था। लेकिन जुम्मन को भरोसा था कि अलगू उसके खिलाफ नहीं जाएगा।

अलगू ने दलील सुनी और जुम्मन से भी जिरह की। बाद में अलगू ने आंटी के पक्ष में फैसला सुनाया। जुम्मन ने विश्वासघात महसूस किया क्योंकि उसने सोचा कि अलगू उसकी दोस्ती पर विचार करेगा। तो उनकी दोस्ती का बंधन टूट गया और उनके बीच दुश्मनी विकसित हो गई।

सुनवाई के दिन अलगू और साहू ने अपना पक्ष रखा। उनसे गहन पूछताछ की गई। तब जुम्मन फैसला देने के लिए खड़ा हुआ और घोषणा की कि साहू को अलगू को बैल की कीमत चुकानी चाहिए। फिर अलगू ने जुम्मन को गले लगा लिया और वे फिर से दोस्त बन गए।

Fair Play Part 1 Summary
Two friends Jumman and Algu were good friends. They looked after each other's families in each other's absence:

The differences between them arose because of an old aunt of Jumman. He had transferred his property to her with the understanding that he would take care of her. But over time he and his family got tired and insulted him. Then he asked for a monthly allowance for the maintenance of his kitchen. On refusing, she took the matter to the Gram Panchayat.

Fair Play Part 2 Summary
Algu was designated as the head panch by the aunt. But Jumman was confident that Algu would not go against him.

Algu heard the argument and also cross-examined Jumman. Later, Algu ruled in favor of Auntie. Jumman felt betrayed as he thought Algu would consider her friendship. So their friendship broke down and enmity developed between them.

Fair Play Part 3 Summary
After some time, Algu faced a difficult situation. He sold one of his bullocks to Sahu, a cart driver in the village because his other bull died, with the understanding that the payment would be made in a month's time. Unfortunately, within a month the bull also died.

When Algu asked for the payment, he was refused as he alleged that he was cheated as the bull had died in a month's time.

Alga took the matter to the Panchayat. The two met people to get the consent of many to be on their side. Sahu was asked to choose a head panchayat. Sahu proposed Jumman's name. Jumman was also looking for a chance to take revenge on Algu.

On the day of hearing, Algu and Sahu presented their side. He was thoroughly interrogated. Then Jumman stood up to deliver the verdict and announced that Sahu should pay the price of the bull to Algu. Then Algu hugs Jumman and they become friends again.
