Maud Gone marries Morbride, a drunken and dysfunctional partner, and Venus chooses the lame god Hephaestus as her husband. The poet wants his daughter to cultivate manners. A man who marries an inferior beauty may find his reward in the chivalry and kindness of his heart. It is much more important than the physical beauty of a woman which attracts the attention of the lover.

The third quality that the poet wants his daughter to have is natural bliss, which means the spread of happiness and peace all around. He gives the image of a growing laurel tree which gives rest to all. The one thing he wants to avoid is hatred. Hate is the worst of all evils. A mind that is free from hatred can face the storms and misfortunes of the world.

Intellectual hatred is the worst. The poet mentions Maud Gone as a model of beauty who has ruined her aristocratic traditions in political arguments. If hatred is replaced by innocence and purity, it can bring happiness and consolation to the individual. This will give his daughter an inner peace that cannot be distracted by misfortune, agitation or protest.

The poet wants his daughter to grow up and get married in an aristocratic family that follows traditional etiquette and etiquette. There is a lot of arrogance and hatred in the common man today.
