This is the year 2157. Margie records in a diary from which Tommy finds a book printed on paper. The pages of the book have turned yellow and wrinkled, proving that they existed centuries ago. The book is fantastic in the sense that it had the same words on it that it first read. It didn't move like that on a computer / television screen.

Tommy calls it rubbish because once you read a book, it doesn't work. They have millions of books on their television screens and no one can throw them away. Margi is of the same opinion but is curious to know what the book is about. Tommy tells her it's about school. She hated school, but now she hated it more than ever because her mechanical teacher was giving her exams after the geography exam and she was doing worse. Her mother sends a county inspector who is a round little guy.

He takes the television teacher away and sets it up in an hour, which only adds to Margi's frustration. He tells his mother that this route was not a mistake but that the mechanical teacher's geography area was created a little early and he has reduced it to an average ten year level. He assures Margi and her mother that there will be no more problems.

Margie is curious to know about the school that already existed. Tommy tells her that this is not their school. This is the old school they have had for centuries. The students had a human teacher who would teach them and give them homework and also ask questions. Margi says a man can't be smart enough.

Tommy further tells her that the teachers do not live in the house. They had a special building and all the children went there. Children of the same age learned the same. Now it's Margi's school time. She goes to the school room next to her bedroom and the mechanical teacher is waiting for her. With a sigh, she puts her homework in the slot.

She is still thinking about the old schools that her grandparents had when they were young. All the children around were laughing, shouting, sitting together in the school room, going home together at the end of the day. Those schools were much better than today's schools because they gave a lot of fun to the students.
