'ए लार्क' लॉरेंस अल्मा तदेमा द्वारा लिखी गई एक कविता है जो इस बात पर प्रकाश डालती है कि हम जिस स्थिति में हैं उसमें हम कैसे खुश नहीं हैं और हम जो हैं उससे परे कुछ या कुछ बनने की इच्छा रखते हैं। ऐसे समय होते हैं जब आपमें कुछ ऐसा बनने की तीव्र इच्छा होती है जो आप नहीं हैं। जैसा कि कहा जाता है, घास हमेशा दूसरी तरफ हरी होती है। कवि इस कविता में इसे खूबसूरती से चित्रित करता है जहां वह लार्क और सुनहरी मछली दोनों से पूछता है कि क्या वे वास्तव में खुश हैं और अपने जीवन से ऊब नहीं हैं। आकाश में ऊँचे उड़ते लार्क पक्षी को संबोधित करते हुए कवि लार्क से पूछता है कि क्या वह उदास बादलों में खाली आकाश में पहुँचकर थक गया है।

कवि लार्क से जानना चाहता है कि क्या वह कभी समुद्र में एक सुनहरी मछली बनना चाहता है। कवि सुनहरी मछली से पूछता है, जो गहरे समुद्र में गोता लगाती है, क्या वह वास्तव में खुश होती है जब ठंडी लहरें उस पर धीरे और चुपचाप फिसलती हैं। ? कवि पूछता है कि क्या वह गाना नहीं चाहता और आकाश में ऊंची उड़ान भरने वाली लार्क की तरह रहना चाहता है। सुन्दर चित्रणों वाली एक सरल कविता एक उदाहरण है, कवि ने जीवन का एक सरल सत्य प्रस्तुत किया है।

कवीला समुद्रातील सोनेरी मासा बनण्याची इच्छा कधी कधी आली आहे का, हे कवीला लार्ककडून जाणून घ्यायचे आहे. कवी समुद्रात खोलवर डुबकी मारणाऱ्या गोल्डफिशला विचारतो की जेव्हा थंडीच्या लाटा हळूवारपणे आणि शांतपणे त्यावर सरकतात तेव्हा खरोखर आनंद होतो का? ? आकाशात उंच भरारी घेणाऱ्या लार्क पक्ष्याप्रमाणे गाण्याची आणि जीवन जगण्याची इच्छा नाही का, याची कवी चौकशी करतो. सुंदर उदाहरणांसह एक साधी कविता म्हणजे उदाहरणे, कवीने जीवनाचे एक साधे सत्य मांडले आहे.
