‘सिल्व्हर हाऊस’मध्ये राहणाऱ्या माणसाबद्दल कवी बोलतो आणि त्या माणसाबद्दल कोणालाच कसं माहीत नाही किंवा बोलत नाही. एकाकी माणसाला पाहण्यासाठी, दिवसा कॉल करण्यापूर्वी रात्रीच्या वेळी खिडकी आंधळी काढण्याचा सल्ला कवी पुढे देतो. जॉन ली या कवीने म्हटले आहे की, जर तुम्ही आकाशात गरीब माणूस शोधणे बंद केले तर त्याचे कारण म्हणजे ‘सिल्व्हर हाऊस’ खाली करण्यात आले आहे. चंद्र ‘अमावस्या’ अवस्थेत असल्यामुळे ‘सिल्व्हर हाउस’ अर्थातच तिथे नसेल.
‘द सिल्व्हर हाऊस’ ही कविता कवी जॉन ली यांनी लिहिलेली कविता आहे जी अप्रत्यक्षपणे चंद्राच्या टप्प्यांचे वर्णन करते. कवितेत एका चांदीच्या घराचे वर्णन केले आहे जे आकाशातील चांदीच्या मुकुटासारखे गोल आहे जे खरे तर चंद्र आहे. कवितेमध्ये हळूहळू स्पष्ट केले आहे की जे घर प्रत्यक्षात चंद्र आहे, ते घर तयार होण्यासाठी दोन आठवडे आणि खाली खेचण्यासाठी दोन आठवडे लागतात, जो चंद्र अमावस्येच्या टप्प्यापासून पौर्णिमेच्या टप्प्यात बदलण्यासाठी लागतो.
