She later joined teaching work in 1884 and after that in 1892 she started her own school in the name of 'Ruskin School' at Wimbledon. He gained popularity in the high society of London for his great intellectual gifts. Gradually, she became the center of a great educational movement that resulted in the famous Sesame Club.
Christian religious principles were instilled in him from childhood. But the search for truth led him to Swami Vivekananda's teachings of Vedanta in 1895–96. This offered her his lifelong services in search of truth and she relocated to India. She came to Calcutta on 28 January, where she was ordained into celibacy on 25 March 1898 and was named Sister Nivedita by Swami Vivekananda. She took him on duties in the fields of teaching, social work and spirituality. He was a strong supporter of education of women/girls.
He advocated for schools as he did for boys. She believed in next generation schooling. She started Kindergarden School for Hindu Girls in November 1998. He did many relief works like the plague relief of Ramakrishna Mission from 1899 onwards. After the death of Swami Vivekananda in July 1902 he renounced the purely spiritual Ramakrishna Order and began to take an active interest in the Indian struggle for independence. He also maintained his relationship with the order.
He made lecture tours all over India to create national consciousness among the Indian people. During September 1902 to 1904. There was an aggressive type of politics here. She did not believe in the petitioner type of liberal politics. Yet it maintained the petitioner type of politics. Nevertheless he maintained cordial relations with leaders of various schools of political thought. He also supported the Swadeshi movement both in theory and in practice. For him the Swadeshi movement was an opportunity for the Indian to honor himself in the whole world. He also helped other nationalist groups like the Down Society and Anushilan Samiti.
Nivedita's biggest wish was that the whole country should be educated at the national level. He encouraged the study of science. She believed in Indian art which she considered necessary for the upliftment of India. For this he inspired people like Abanindra Nath Tagore to achieve its ideals.
From 1902 onwards he raised his voice against British policy in India. He denounced Lord Curzon for the Universities Act of 1904 for insulting Indians by calling them untrue. He blamed British imperialism for the disastrous condition of the Indian economy.
