I am really glad to receive your letter. To be honest, I was expecting this from you. I am glad that you read the newspaper everyday and are aware of the happenings around you. I admire your curiosity and keen desire for more knowledge and information. Keep it up, these qualities will surely help you in becoming a conscious citizen. You guessed it right that I have attended the inaugural function of water conservation program in my village.

The word protection literally means to save something. It can be water, energy, soil or animal and plant species. Conservation of water means that we have to collect rainwater from rivers to increase the ground water level of the earth; Collected in ponds, wells and fields should be saved. Also, we should use water sparingly. When rain water enters the earth, it does not remain thirsty. We are living in a very challenging era. To the trees Due to the ruthless cutting and destruction of forests, there is less rainfall.

We see water scarcity everywhere, which is adversely affecting the yield of crops. How can we be happy with this thirsty (waterless) earth? Unfortunately, most of the rainwater runs off into rivers and ends up in the sea, thus rendering it unusable. We are witness to empty and dry rivers, ponds, wells and tube wells. We should not sit still. Under water conservation program we are trying to collect rain water at different levels. Farmers will store water in the fields by making bunds around their fields.

They will also dig small ponds to collect rainwater in their fields. Similarly, old structures such as wells and ponds will be cleaned more deeply. Small dams on streams and rivers will be repaired and made to hold enough water. What a delightful sight it would be.

For us, when the village river has plenty of water throughout the year, we will be able to enjoy swimming again in our own village as we used to do a few years ago. You can easily understand that if the rivers and ponds of a place are filled with water, the tap-wells will automatically refill and us throughout the year. Will keep giving water.

I also want to point out that the government alone cannot do everything. Similarly, merely shouting slogans will do nothing. Water is the primary need of every person, so every person should participate in water conservation program. I have seen all the people voluntarily coming forward to work hand in hand for this good cause and work shoulder to shoulder.

मैं तुम्हारा पत्र प्राप्त कर वास्तव में बहुत प्रसन्न हूँ। सही कहूँ तो मैं तुमसे इसकी आशा ही कर रहा था। मुझे खुशी है कि तुम रोज़ अखबार पढ़ती हो और तुम्हें चारों ओर होने वाली घटनाओं की जानकारी है। मैं अधिक ज्ञान एवं सूचना के लिए तुम्हारी जिज्ञासा और तीव्र इच्छा की प्रशंसा करता हूँ। इसे जारी रखो, ये गुण तुम्हें एक जागरूक नागरिक बनने में निश्चय ही तुम्हारी सहायता करेंगे। तुमने सही अनुमान लगाया है कि मैंने अपने गाँव में जल संरक्षण कार्यक्रम के उद्घाटन समारोह में भाग लिया है।

संरक्षण शब्द का शाब्दिक अर्थ है किसी चीज़ को बचाना। यह पानी, ऊर्जा, मृदा या जानवर और पौधों की प्रजातियाँ हो सकती हैं। जल संरक्षण का मतलब है कि हमें वर्षा का जल पृथ्वी के भू-जल स्तर में वृद्धि करने के लिए नदियों; तालाबों, कुँओं और खेतों में एकत्रित कर बचाना चाहिए। साथ ही, हमें किफायत के साथ पानी का प्रयोग करना चाहिए। जब वर्षा का जल पृथ्वी के भीतर जाता है तो फिर यह प्यासी नहीं रहती है। हम एक अत्यन्त चुनौती भरे युग में रह रहे हैं। पेड़ों को। निर्दयतापूर्वक काटना और वनों के विनाश के कारण कम वर्षा होती है।

मैं यह भी बताना चाहता हूँ कि सरकार अकेले – हर काम नहीं कर सकती हैं। इसी प्रकार केवल नारे लगाने से कुछ नहीं होगा। पानी प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की प्राथमिक आवश्यकता है इसलिए प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को हम सभी बच्चों को भी, जल संरक्षण कार्यक्रम में भाग लेना चाहिए। मैंने सभी लोगों को स्वेच्छा से इस अच्छे कार्य के लिए हाथ में हाथ लिए और कंधे से कंधा मिलाकर कार्य करने के लिए आगे आते हुए देखा है।
