This thought came in the mind of a king that if he knew three things then he would never fail. These were three things: What's the right time to start something? Who are the most important people around him? What is the most important thing for him to do? Many educated people tried to answer the king's questions, but they all came up with different answers. The king decided that he needed to ask a wise monk in a nearby village.

The monk used to see only the common people. So the king dressed in simple clothes and left his guards behind before meeting the monk. When the king came, the monk was digging the flower beds. The king asked his questions, but the monk kept digging diligently. The king offered to dig for him for a while. After digging for some time, the king again asked his questions.

He determined to himself that upon meeting the unexpected made peace and put an end to the quarrel, reconciling with the care for the one seeking a definite and final answer. Instead of answering, the monk pointed to a man who was running towards him. The man was bleeding from a terrible wound in his stomach. The king took care of her, and they stayed the night in the sannyasi's hut. The king slept so deeply that the next morning he could not even recognize the bearded man. To the king's surprise, the bearded man asked the king to forgive him.

He confessed that he knew who the king was, and that the king killed his brother and confiscated his property. He said that he had come to kill the king, but the king's bodyguards wounded him in the stomach. The man pledged allegiance to the king, and he went on his way. The king again asked the monk for his answers, and the monk replied that he had just answered his questions.

एक राजा के मन में यह विचार आया कि यदि वह तीन बातें जानता है तो वह कभी असफल नहीं होगा। ये तीन चीजें थीं: कुछ शुरू करने का सही समय क्या है? उसके आसपास सबसे महत्वपूर्ण लोग कौन हैं? उसके लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण काम क्या करना है? कई पढ़े-लिखे लोगों ने राजा के सवालों का जवाब देने की कोशिश की, लेकिन वे सभी अलग-अलग जवाब लेकर आए। राजा ने फैसला किया कि उसे पास के गांव में एक बुद्धिमान साधु से पूछने की जरूरत है।

साधु केवल आम लोगों को ही देखता था। इसलिए राजा ने साधारण कपड़े पहने और साधु से मिलने से पहले अपने रक्षकों को पीछे छोड़ दिया। राजा के आने पर साधु फूलों की क्यारियाँ खोद रहा था। राजा ने अपने प्रश्न पूछे, लेकिन साधु काफी मेहनत से खुदाई करता रहा। राजा ने थोड़ी देर के लिए उसके लिए खुदाई करने की पेशकश की। कुछ देर खुदाई करने के बाद राजा ने फिर से अपने प्रश्न पूछे।

उसने मन ही मन निश्चय किया कि मिलने पर अनपेक्षित रूप से शांति बना ली और झगड़े को समाप्त कर दिया, एक निश्चित और अंतिम उत्तर चाहने वाले की देखभाल के लिए देखभाल के साथ सामंजस्य बिठा लिया। साधु ने उत्तर देने के बजाय एक आदमी की ओर इशारा किया जो उनकी ओर भाग रहा था। आदमी के पेट में भयानक घाव से खून बह रहा था। राजा ने उसकी देखभाल की, और वे रात को सन्यासी की कुटिया में रहे। राजा इतनी गहरी नींद सो गया कि अगली सुबह वह दाढ़ी वाले आदमी को पहचान भी नहीं पाया। राजा के आश्चर्य के लिए, दाढ़ी वाले व्यक्ति ने राजा से उसे क्षमा करने के लिए कहा।
