Vaikom Muhammad Bashir is the author of 'The Snake and the Mirror'. He is a famous storyteller from Kerala. The story is funny. This tells us the experience of a young home doctor with a snake. The doctor was living alone in a small room with a tiled ceiling. It was a hot summer night. Late at night he entered his room. He tried to sleep but could not. It was summer and he sat on a chair in front of the mirror and tried to read a book. There was a noise on the roof once or twice. But he didn't care because there were a lot of rats roaming around. He started dreaming of marrying a fat, rich lady doctor.

Suddenly there was a sound like 'thug'. When he turned to see what it was, he had a strong, long cobra around his left arm, whose hood was wide open and just four inches away from his face. He immediately became like a stone of fear. But his mind was active. While he was thinking how to save himself, the snake saw his image in the mirror. It seemed that the snake was interested in her beauty. So he slipped on the table below and headed towards the mirror. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the doctor ran away from the room and went to the friend's house. The next morning he came! Back to my room with my friend. There was no snake. The room was almost empty. Some! The thief had taken away all his belongings except a dirty vest. The doctor answers a listener's question by saying that he is married to a skinny woman and is an expert in running!

वैकोम मुहम्मद बशीर 'द स्नेक एंड द मिरर' के लेखक हैं। वे केरल के प्रसिद्ध कथाकार हैं। कहानी हास्यप्रद है। यह हमें एक सांप के साथ एक युवा घरेलू चिकित्सक का अनुभव बताता है। डॉक्टर टाइल वाली छत वाले एक छोटे से कमरे में अकेला रह रहा था। गर्मी की भीषण रात थी। देर रात वह अपने कमरे में दाखिल हुआ। उसने सोने की कोशिश की लेकिन नहीं कर सका। गर्मी थी और वह शीशे के सामने एक कुर्सी पर बैठ गया और एक किताब पढ़ने की कोशिश करने लगा। एक-दो बार छत पर शोर हुआ। लेकिन उन्होंने इसकी परवाह नहीं की क्योंकि वहां बहुत सारे चूहे घूम रहे थे। वह एक मोटी, अमीर महिला डॉक्टर से शादी करने का सपना देखने लगा।

अचानक 'ठग' जैसी आवाज आई। जब वह यह देखने के लिए मुड़ा कि यह क्या है, तो उसके बाएं हाथ के चारों ओर एक मजबूत, लंबा कोबरा था, जिसका हुड चौड़ा खुला था और उसके चेहरे से सिर्फ चार इंच दूर था। वह तुरन्त भय के पत्थर के समान हो गया। लेकिन उनका दिमाग सक्रिय था। जब वह सोच रहा था कि खुद को कैसे बचाया जाए, तो सांप ने अपनी छवि आईने में देखी। ऐसा लग रहा था कि सांप को उसकी सुंदरता में दिलचस्पी है। तो वह नीचे की मेज पर फिसल गया और शीशे की ओर बढ़ गया। डॉक्टर ने इस मौके का फायदा उठाकर कमरे से भागकर दोस्त के घर चला गया। अगली सुबह वह आया! वापस अपने दोस्त के साथ अपने कमरे में। कोई सांप नहीं था। कमरा लगभग खाली था। कुछ! चोर एक गंदी बनियान को छोड़कर उसका सारा सामान ले गया था। डॉक्टर एक श्रोता के प्रश्न का उत्तर यह कहकर देता है कि उसने एक दुबली महिला से शादी की है और दौड़ने में माहिर है!
