The speaker in this poem is a young boy who wakes up in the fresh and blissful morning of summer and feels happy. The chirping of birds announces the day's holiday. The boy is entertained by the company of a hunter who blows his voice from a distant field and plays the sweet lullaby of the Skylark.

It is to the great dismay of the speaker to go to school on a sunny summer morning, where he really wants to enjoy the pleasures of summer. He is exhausted and puzzled even under the strict supervision of his teacher. Instead of enjoying the joy of summer, the child has to go to school where he spends his days bored and in despair.

The child expresses his fatigue. He drowns in a sea of fatigue. The child resists the teacher's oppressive personality and attacks on him by unnecessary lectures (a barrage of meaningless words), the finicky teacher erases his words without even trying to understand the child's intent and his urge for unbridled independence.

A bird that is happy and cheerful from birth can never sing a sweet song when it is locked in a cage. Similarly, if a child is under the shadow of constant fear and tension, he can never enjoy the natural instincts of joy and playfulness. Truly a world full of strict discipline would ruthlessly snatch away the beautiful springs (childhood days) of a person's life.

The boy complains to the supreme authority, to the father and mother, if a budding child is carried into an ocean of misery at an early stage of life, where there is no one to take care of. Summer can never be joyful if sorrow fades away tender plants, beautiful buds and newborn buds.

इस कविता में वक्ता एक युवा लड़का है जो गर्मियों की ताजा और आनंदमय सुबह में उठकर खुशी महसूस करता है। चिड़ियों की चहचहाहट दिन के अवकाश की घोषणा करती है। लड़के का मनोरंजन उस शिकारी की संगति से हो जाता है जो दूर के खेत से अपनी वाणी फूंकता है और स्काईलार्क की मीठी लोरी बजाता है।

गर्मियों की सुहावनी सुबह में स्कूल जाना स्पीकर के लिए अत्यंत निराशा की बात है, जहां वास्तव में वह गर्मी के आनंद का आनंद लेना चाहता है। वह थक गया है और अपने शिक्षक की सख्त निगरानी में भी हैरान है। बच्चे को गर्मी के आनंद का आनंद लेने के बजाय स्कूल जाना पड़ता है जहां वह अपना दिन ऊब और निराशा में बिताता है।
