एलेनोर फरजेन द्वारा लिखी गई कविता "द क्वरेल" थी। यह एक प्रथम व्यक्ति कथात्मक कविता है। बचपन में कवि ने अपने भाई से झगड़ा किया। बचपन में भाइयों, बहनों और खेलने वालों के बीच झगड़ा होना आम बात है। उन्हें भी नहीं पता कि वे क्यों झगड़ रहे थे। झगड़े के दौरान दोनों में बहस होती थी और यह एक बात को दूसरी तक ले जाता है। छोटी-छोटी बातों को लेकर शुरू हुआ झगड़ा, आखिर में वजह मजबूत रही, दोनों समझौता करने को राजी नहीं हुए।

उसके भाई ने कहा कि वह सही था लेकिन कवि का मानना था कि वह गलत था। दोनों एक दूसरे से नफरत करते थे। दोपहर बर्बाद हुई तो काली हो गई। कुछ समय बाद उसके भाई ने उसकी पीठ थपथपाई और कहा कि वह गलत था और उसने अपना झगड़ा छोड़ दिया। तो लेखक को लगा कि अब वह सही कह रहा था।
