The play tells the story of a criminal who breaks into a deserted house. A man named Gerard lives in this house. The intruder has killed a cop and the police are after him. He knows that Gerard bears some physical resemblance to him. So he plans to kill Gerard and take his identity. But Gerard proves it—too smart to an intruder. He makes up the story to fool the intruder. He tells the intruder that he is also a criminal like him. He says that he has also killed someone and the police is after him.

He tells the intruder that he can help him get out in his car. He opens a door and tells the intruder to go inside. They say that through that door they can go straight to the garage. But as soon as the intruder comes in, Gerard locks the door and locks it. It was not the way to the garage. That was a cupboard door! Thus Gerard cleverly traps the intruder. He then sends the police to arrest him.

यह नाटक एक अपराधी की कहानी कहता है जो एक सुनसान घर में घुस जाता है। इस घर में गेरार्ड नाम का एक आदमी रहता है। घुसपैठिए ने एक पुलिस वाले को मार डाला है और पुलिस उसके पीछे है। वह जानता है कि जेरार्ड उससे कुछ शारीरिक समानता रखता है। इसलिए उसने जेरार्ड को मारने और उसकी पहचान लेने की योजना बनाई है। लेकिन जेरार्ड साबित करते हैं- घुसपैठिए के लिए बहुत होशियार। वह घुसपैठिए को बेवकूफ बनाने के लिए कहानी बनाता है। वह घुसपैठिए से कहता है कि वह भी उसकी तरह अपराधी है। उसका कहना है कि उसने किसी की हत्या भी की है और पुलिस उसके पीछे है।

वह घुसपैठिए से कहता है कि वह अपनी कार में वहां से निकलने में उसकी मदद कर सकता है। वह एक दरवाजा खोलता है और घुसपैठिए को अंदर जाने के लिए कहता है। उनका कहना है कि उस दरवाजे से वे सीधे गैरेज में जा सकते हैं। लेकिन जैसे ही घुसपैठिया अंदर आता है, जेरार्ड दरवाजा बंद कर देता है और ताला लगा देता है। यह गैरेज का रास्ता नहीं था। वह एक अलमारी का दरवाजा था! इस प्रकार जेरार्ड बड़ी चतुराई से घुसपैठिए को फँसा लेता है। फिर वह उसे गिरफ्तार करने के लिए पुलिस को भेजता है।
