Richard Edwards wrote the poem 'The Comet and the Moon'. It is a hypothetical interaction between a fast-moving comet and the Moon. Moon tells a speeding comet to stop and listen to his concerns.

A comet was tearing the yellow ribbon of the moon. The comet asks the Moon to explain why the Moon looked so gloomy as it made its way into space. Moon sadly replied that if the comet was doomed like his, he too would cry. Moon complains to the comet that it had to follow the same path bound by the chains of gravity.

It is the envy of comets because it can flare up freely and move and spin like a rocket across space. The Moon is trapped in Earth's orbit. The Moon commemorates the time when some astronauts from Earth landed on it to swim and scratch back by walking.

But after his departure, the life of the moon also becomes monotonous. So Moon begs the comet to stop and talk to him. But before it could find an answer, the comet had already gone on to spin its tail around the planet Venus. The Moon was sadly reduced to its orbit around the Earth.

रिचर्ड एडवर्ड्स ने 'द कॉमेट एंड द मून' कविता लिखी है। यह एक तेज रफ्तार धूमकेतु और चंद्रमा के बीच एक काल्पनिक बातचीत है। चंद्रमा एक तेज रफ्तार धूमकेतु को रुकने और उसकी चिंताओं को सुनने के लिए कहता है।

एक धूमकेतु चाँद के पीले रंग के फीते को चीर रहा था। धूमकेतु चंद्रमा से यह बताने के लिए कहता है कि चंद्रमा इतना उदास क्यों दिख रहा था क्योंकि उसने अंतरिक्ष में अपना रास्ता बना लिया था। चंद्रमा ने दुख के साथ उत्तर दिया कि धूमकेतु भी अगर उसकी तरह बर्बाद हुआ तो वह भी रोएगा। चंद्रमा धूमकेतु से शिकायत करता है कि उसे गुरुत्वाकर्षण की जंजीरों से बंधे हुए उसी रास्ते पर चलना था।

यह धूमकेतु से ईर्ष्या करता है क्योंकि यह स्वतंत्र रूप से भड़क सकता है और पूरे अंतरिक्ष में रॉकेट की तरह घूम सकता है और घूम सकता है। चंद्रमा पृथ्वी की कक्षा में फंसा हुआ है। चंद्रमा उस समय को याद करता है जब पृथ्वी से कुछ अंतरिक्ष यात्री तैरने के लिए उस पर उतरे थे और चलकर वापस खरोंच कर चुके थे।

लेकिन उनके जाने के बाद चंद्रमा का जीवन भी नीरस हो जाता है। इसलिए चंद्रमा धूमकेतु से रुकने और उससे बात करने की विनती करता है। लेकिन इससे पहले कि वह कोई जवाब पाता धूमकेतु पहले ही शुक्र ग्रह के चारों ओर अपनी पूंछ घुमाने के लिए चला गया था। चंद्रमा दुखी होकर पृथ्वी के चारों ओर अपनी कक्षा में सिमट गया।
