Everyone in the world wants to be happy. But how should we find happiness? It is difficult to answer. The author describes the Tibetan folktale "The Bird of Happiness". In ancient times there was a poor area in Tibet. The people living in that area were suffering from hunger and cold. There was no river or water source, trees, green grass or crops of any kind. No fruits, flowers or vegetables. The land was also not good. People did not know what happiness could be. Despite this, he believed that there must be happiness somewhere in the world. According to the old people, happiness was a beautiful bird that lived in a snowy mountain far in the east.

Wherever the bird flies, happiness goes with it. It is said that this bird was protected by three old demons, who could kill a man by plucking his long beard. Those who went in search of this bird never returned. Once a very promising boy, Wangjia, was sent to find the Bird of Happiness. According to Tibetan custom, the village girls carried barley, wine and the village mothers spread barley grains on his head and wished him a good journey. Wangjia began his journey east. After many days he reached a big mountain covered with snow and it was shining like silver. At that moment an old demon with a black beard appeared before him. The giant monster questioned Wangjia who he was and how he dared to step on that land.

Wangjia said that he had come to find the bird of happiness. The demon replied that if he wanted to find the bird of happiness, he should first kill Lusang's mother, otherwise he would be punished. Wangjia did not agree to kill him because he loves his mother and said that a demon can do whatever he wants. Hearing Wangjia's words, the demon became enraged and started hitting him with his beard. Immediately the smooth road became a vast land covered with sharp stones.

Wangjia continued her journey, after the first hundred miles Wangjia's shoe soles were torn, after the second hundred miles her feet were cut into pieces; After the third hundred miles, his hands were cut thinner than Tom. At the time he thought it was too difficult to continue. He had doubts whether he wanted to proceed or not. He remembered his people and they had great faith in him. How to disappoint those people. So he made up his mind to continue his journey. He lay on the ground and started crawling. His clothes were torn; He had injured his knees and shoulders. Finally, he met another monster.

The other demon was screaming angrily if he should poison the old Ghaffar for a long time, otherwise he would starve to death. Wangjia refused to kill him, so in anger, the old demon shaved off his long beard and Wangjia's bread-bag flew into the sky. Suddenly the blue mountains and green rivers turned into a boundless desert, not a small piece of food. Wangjia continued her journey, after traveling a hundred miles, her stomach began to tremble with hunger. After the second hundred miles, he was so hungry and his head floated and he began to see the stars, after the third hundred miles he felt a sharp pain in his throat as if they were being cut with a knife. Finally, he reached the third demon, at which time he was nothing but skin and bone. The third demon was old and had a white bore.

Seeing Wangjia, he thundered. If Wangjia wanted to see the bird of happiness, he had to bring the pupils of Bhima's eyes to him. Wangjia bowed and thought and then replied that no one has the right to destroy a girl's beautiful eyes, so I won't. The old demon cried out angrily and started hitting with his long beard. Wangijia's pupils popped out of his pocket and he went blind. Wangjia thought this would be the 'final test' and then headed in the direction of the rising sun, - he crawled nine hundred miles to the top of the snow-capped mountain. He heard the bird of happiness.

The bird said "My dear child, have you come here for me?" Overwhelmed by Joy, Wangjia replied, Yes, I have, our people love seeing you, please come back with me. The bird of happiness touched Wangjia with love and sang for her. His pupils were back in their pockets, his vision was much better and his wounds were healed and stronger than before. The bird offered some minced meat and cream cakes. The bird took Wangjia back to his village and they landed on the top of the mountain.

The bird asked Wangjia what he wanted from it. Wangjia replied that they wanted warmth and happiness, forests and flowers, fields and rivers. The bird of happiness cried three loudly. At the first cry, the golden sun broke through the clouds and a warm wind came down. On the second cry, the forest appeared all over the mountains, the flowers bloomed together, the lark led a chorus of bird song. On the third cry, green rivers and fields came into existence and the little white rabbi danced merrily on the grass. From that day onwards all the people of the village never again suffered.
