This is a touching poem written by Indian poet Kamala Das, who wrote under the nickname 'Madhavikutty'. In this poem, she describes her feeling of love and attachment towards her old mother.

Once the poet went to visit his mother. She was on her way to the airport to return back to Cochin. He looked at his mother who was sitting next to him in the car. His mother had fallen asleep and her old face was as smoky as ash. Her mouth was open and she looked like a dead body. The poet realized that his mother was old. He felt pain and sympathy for her. His mother needed love, affection and care.

To come out of the sadness, the poet removed his gaze and looked out of the car window. There he saw young trees passing fast. Small children were running out of their homes towards the playgrounds. These things were in contrast to the aging face of his mother. They symbolize energy, life and happiness.

As they reached the airport and the poet was about to leave for the plane, he once looked at his mother. Her mother looked weak and pale like the moon in the winter season, she seemed to have lost all her strength. The poet felt the pain and fear of losing his mother. He remembered his childhood when he was afraid of losing his mother.

As a child, she could not be separated from her mother even for a moment. Now the loss would be permanent as his mother was about to die and she would lose him forever. The poet did not express his feelings. She smiled and said, "See you soon, Amma" because she wanted her mother to be alive and that they could meet again.

यह भारतीय कवि कमला दास द्वारा लिखी गई एक मार्मिक कविता है, जिन्होंने 'माधविकुट्टी' के उपनाम से लिखा है। इस कविता में, वह अपनी बूढ़ी माँ के प्रति अपने प्यार और लगाव की भावना का वर्णन करती है।

एक बार कवि अपनी माँ से मिलने गया। वह वापस कोचीन लौटने के लिए एयरपोर्ट जा रही थी। उसने अपनी माँ की ओर देखा जो कार में उसके पास बैठी थी। उसकी माँ को नींद आ गई थी और उसका बूढ़ा चेहरा राख की तरह धुएँ के रंग का था। उसका मुंह खुला था और वह एक मृत शरीर की तरह लग रही थी। कवि ने महसूस किया कि उसकी माँ बूढ़ी थी। उसने उसके लिए दर्द और सहानुभूति महसूस की। उसकी माँ को प्यार, स्नेह और देखभाल की ज़रूरत थी।

उदासी से बाहर आने के लिए, कवि ने अपनी नज़र हटाई और कार की खिड़की से बाहर देखा। वहाँ उसने देखा कि युवा पेड़ तेज़ी से गुज़र रहे हैं। छोटे-छोटे बच्चे अपने घरों से निकलकर खेल के मैदानों की ओर भाग रहे थे। ये बातें उसकी माँ के बूढ़ते चेहरे के विपरीत थीं। वे ऊर्जा, जीवन और खुशी का प्रतीक हैं।

जैसे ही वे हवाई अड्डे पर पहुँचे और कवि हवाई जहाज के लिए निकलने ही वाला था, उसने एक बार अपनी माँ की ओर देखा। उसकी माँ सर्दी के मौसम में चाँद की तरह कमजोर और पीली दिखाई देती थी, ऐसा लगता है कि उसने अपनी सारी ताकत खो दी है। कवि ने अपनी माँ को खोने का दर्द और भय महसूस किया। उन्हें अपने बचपन की याद आ गई जब उन्हें अपनी मां को खोने का डर था।

एक बच्चे के रूप में, वह कुछ पल के लिए भी अपनी माँ से अलग नहीं हो सकी। अब नुकसान स्थायी होगा क्योंकि उसकी माँ मरने वाली थी और वह उसे हमेशा के लिए खो देगी। कवि ने अपनी भावनाओं को व्यक्त नहीं किया। वह मुस्कुराई और कहा, "जल्द ही मिलते हैं, अम्मा" क्योंकि वह चाहती थी कि उसकी माँ जीवित रहे और वे फिर से मिल सकें।
