उसी घर के आस-पास सब कुछ अच्छा था। लेकिन जब उसकी दादी की मृत्यु हो गई और वक्ता दूसरी जगह रहने लगा, तो घर की हालत खराब हो गई। हर जगह वह घर दयनीय स्थिति में हो गया। जब स्पीकर वहां घर देखने गए तो चारों ओर झाड़ियां उग आईं। जब वह वहां पहुंची तो उनका जोरदार स्वागत किया गया। उसने अपने घर को क्षतिग्रस्त देखा। एक मजबूत भावना ने उसके दिमाग को पकड़ लिया। जब वह वहां गई तो सब कुछ बदल गया था लेकिन फिर भी उसे गर्व था क्योंकि जब वह वहां पहुंची तो उसका गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया गया जो उसे अजनबी के दरवाजे पर मिली।

इस कविता में, वक्ता कमला दास ने अपनी आत्मकथा में बताया है कि जब वह बहुत छोटी थी तब वह कैसे रहती थी।
