Niralaji was born in Mahishadal in Medinipur district of Bengal. Niralaji's personality was really unique, unique. His personality was the most struggling among the shadow poets. Scholars have adorned him with adjectives such as 'the god of poetry infrequent' and 'spiritual infrequent'. He stands out from other shadow poets in the depiction of love, nature, beauty etc. The core of his poetry has been that of rebellion. Not only did he break the stereotypes and traditions, he himself could not be bound in his own tradition. Despite being a shadowyist, he was the first to transcend shadowism and introduced a progressive and experimental vision.

Breaking the bonds of verse, he introduced free verse. Both the ooze and the melody are skillfully expressed. Similar words are used in the language, but the rhythmicity remains. Anamika, Parimal, Geetika, Bela, New leaves, Tulsidas and Kumkurmutta are his main poetic works. Under the prose works, Niralaji has composed novels like Apsara, Alka, Nirupama, Kullibhat, Billesur Bakariha and story collections like Lily, Sakhi, Sukul ki Biwi etc.

Essence of the poem:

Enthusiasm: Nirala looks at life from a broader perspective. There is an invocation song addressed to Utthaan Badal. Badal is Nirala's favorite subject. In this poem, there is fine consciousness on one side and revolution on the other. Poet Nirala has encouraged man through the cloud, inspired his enthusiasm.

निरालाजी का जन्म बंगाल के मेदनीपुर जिले के महिषादल में हुआ था। निरालाजी का व्यक्तित्व सचमुच निराला था, अनोखा था। छायावादी कवियों में उनका व्यक्तित्व सबसे ज्यादा संघर्षशील रहा। विद्वानों ने उन्हें ‘काव्य का देवता निराला’ तथा ‘महाप्राण निराला’ जैसे विशेषणों से विभूषित किया है। आजीवन अनेकविध अभावों से जूझनेवाला, लेकिन कभी न झुकनेवाला यह स्वाभिमानी कवि एक निराली मस्ती और फकड़पन के साथ जीया ।

एक के बाद एक पिता, पत्नी और पुत्री के अकाल अवसान के आघातों ने कवि-हृदय को हिला कर रख दिया किन्तु पराजय स्वीकार नहीं की। पुत्री सरोज की स्मृति में लिखी गई कविता में ‘दुःख ही जीवन की कथा रही’ जैसी पंक्ति में फूट पड़नेवाला उद्गार इसका प्रमाण है। सन् 1961 ई. में उनका निधन हुआ था।

छायावादी कवियों में निराला का स्वर अलग प्रकार का रहा है। प्रेम, प्रकृति, सौंदर्य आदि के चित्रण में अन्य छायावादी कवियों से वे अलग उभर आते हैं। उनकी कविता का मूल स्वर विद्रोह का रहा है। उन्होंने रूढ़ियों और परंपराओं को तो तोड़ा ही, स्वयं भी अपनी ही परंपरा में न बंध सकें। छायावादी होकर भी उन्होंने ही सबसे पहले छायावाद का अतिक्रमण करके प्रगतिशील एवं प्रयोगशील दृष्टि का परिचय दिया।

छंद के बंधन तोड़कर मुक्त छंद का प्रवर्तन किया। ओज और माधुर्य दोनों की अभिव्यक्ति कुशलतापूर्वक हुई है। भाषा में तत्सम् शब्दों का प्रयोग है, किंतु लयात्मकता बनी रहती है। अनामिका, परिमल, गीतिका, बेला, नये पत्ते, तुलसीदास तथा कुकुरमुत्ता उनकी मुख्य काव्य कृतियाँ हैं । गद्य रचनाओं के अंतर्गत निरालाजी ने अप्सरा, अलका, निरुपमा, कुल्लीभाट, बिल्लेसुर बकरिहा जैसे उपन्यास तथा लिली, सखी, सुकुल की बीवी आदि कहानी संग्रहों की रचना की है।

कविता का सार (भाव) :

उत्साह : निराला जीवन को व्यापक दृष्टिकोण से देखते हैं। उत्साह बादल को संबोधित करके लिखा गया एक आह्वान गीत है। बादल निराला का प्रिय विषय है। इस कविता में एक ओर ललित चेतना है तो दूसरी ओर क्रांति भी। कवि निराला ने बादल के माध्यम से मानव प्रोत्साहित किया है, उसके उत्साह को प्रेरित किया है।
