The given text 'Lal Bahadur Shastri' is the story of one of the great sons of India. This is the life story of Lal Bahadur Shastri, who never aspired for power. But he was elected as the Prime Minister of India after Pt. Nehru.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on October 2, 1904 (he shares his birthday with Mahatma Gandhi), at Mughal Sarai. He was born to Sharda Prasad and Dulari Devi. He was brave, kind and full of courage. Even as a boy, he was very kind to other people. Once, while he was walking with his uncle, he found an old man who was selling fruits. The seller offered to sell them a hundred fruits for one to come, as it was getting dark and they had to go back home. Lal Bahadur took pity on him and gave him one anna for the fruits and took them without even counting.

After his schooling, he joined Kashi Vidya Pitta and studied there for four years. He was bright in subjects like philosophy, economics, political science and social science. He was awarded the title of 'Shastri' during his studies at Kashi Vidyapita. When he was a student, he had to live on only Rs. 2.5 per month.

He later joined the Indian National Congress and participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement and the Dandi March. After independence, he served as the Home and Transport Minister in UP. Later he was After that he was appointed as the Prime Minister. Nehru's death.

Once before independence his daughter got smallpox. In those days it was a terrible killer. Shastri was in jail at that time. He sought permission to meet his daughter. Even as the Prime Minister of India, he led a simple life. When he was railway minister, he accepted moral responsibility for a train accident at Ariyalur, resigning to the ministry. When the country was facing food shortage, he and his family ate only once in a day and he urged the people of the country to eat even less. When he was the prime minister, he could not even buy a car and had to buy a car after taking a loan.
