Once upon a time there lived a king named Sindbad. He was very fond of racing and hunting. He had raised a falcon as a pet. The falcon followed him wherever he went. He never left her side. The king had placed a golden cup around his neck to give water during the hunt.

One day the falcon told the king that it was the right time to go hunting. The king liked his suggestion and set out with his hunting party. They went to a valley and laid a trap. Soon, a gazelle got trapped in the area covered with the net. The king's men began to set off to capture Ghazal. The king warned his men not to let the gazelle escape.

He threatened that anyone who let Ghazal out of the trap would put him to death. Ghazal got scared. He ran towards the king and suddenly jumped over his head and ran away. The king's men whispered that the king himself had let the gazelle escape.

When the king came to know about this he announced that he would not return until he caught the gazelle. He got on his horse. The eagle rose in the air and saw the gazelle running. He pounced on the gazelle and blinded him with his sharp claws. The king killed the mace with a mace. The king took off the skin of the gazelle, put it on his saddle. It was a hot afternoon. They were all thirsty, but there was no sign of water anywhere.

At last, the king came near a tree and saw some kind of liquid dripping from the leaf of the tree. He mistook it for water. He removed the cap from the falcon's neck, collected the liquid and placed it in front of the falcon to drink. But, the falcon overturned the cup. The king once again filled the cup and placed it in front of the bird. The bird troubled him again. The king placed the filled cup in front of the horse. Baz disturbed this too.

The king became angry and cut off the falcon's wings to neither drink the water nor allow the horse to drink. The eagle groaned in pain. This drew the king's attention to the poisonous snake lying above the tree. Then the king realized that the dripping liquid was snake venom. The king regretted cutting off the wings of his faithful and beloved falcon.

He returned to the camp with the falcon perched on his fist. As soon as they reached the camp, the falcon, which had been in pain by then, gasped for breath and died. The king regretted his foolish act and cried out loud over the death of his pet falcon.

एक बार सिंदबाद नाम का एक राजा रहता था। उन्हें रेसिंग और शिकार का बहुत शौक था। उन्होंने एक बाज़ को पालतू जानवर के रूप में पाला था। वह जहाँ भी जाता बाज़ उसका पीछा करता था। उसने कभी उसका साथ नहीं छोड़ा। राजा ने शिकार के समय पानी देने के लिए उसके गले में सोने का प्याला रखा था।

बाज़ ने एक दिन राजा से कहा कि यह शिकार पर जाने का उपयुक्त समय है। राजा को उसका सुझाव पसंद आया और वह अपने शिकार दल के साथ निकल पड़ा। वे एक घाटी में गए और जाल बिछाया। जल्द ही, जाल से ढके क्षेत्र में एक चिकारा फंस गया। राजा के आदमियों ने गजल को पकड़ने के लिए बंद करना शुरू कर दिया। राजा ने अपने आदमियों को चेतावनी दी कि वे चिकारे को भागने न दें।

उसने धमकी दी कि जो व्यक्ति गजल को जाल से बाहर निकलने देगा उसे मौत के घाट उतार देगा। गज़ल डर गई। वह राजा की ओर बढ़ा और अचानक उसके सिर के ऊपर से कूद कर भाग निकला। राजा के लोग फुसफुसाते हुए कहने लगे कि राजा ने स्वयं चिकारे को भागने दिया है।

जब राजा को इस बारे में पता चला तो उसने घोषणा की कि वह तब तक नहीं लौटेगा जब तक कि वह चिकारे को पकड़ नहीं लेता। वह अपने घोड़े पर सवार हो गया। बाज़ हवा में ऊपर उठा और दौड़ते हुए चिकारे को देखा। उसने गज़ले पर झपट्टा मारा और अपने नुकीले पंजों से उसे अंधा कर दिया। राजा ने गदा से गदा को मार डाला। राजा ने चिकारे की खाल उतार दी, उसे अपनी काठी पर रख दिया। गर्म दोपहरी थी। वे सभी प्यासे थे, लेकिन कहीं पानी का नामोनिशान नहीं था।

अंत में, राजा एक पेड़ के पास आया और उसने देखा कि पेड़ के पत्ते से किसी प्रकार का तरल टपक रहा है। उसने इसे पानी समझ लिया। उसने बाज़ के गले से टोपी हटाई, तरल इकट्ठा किया और बाज़ के सामने पीने के लिए रख दिया। लेकिन, बाज़ ने प्याला पलट दिया। राजा ने एक बार फिर प्याला भरकर चिड़िया के सामने रख दिया। चिड़िया ने फिर उसे परेशान किया। राजा ने भरे हुए प्याले को घोड़े के सामने रख दिया। बाज़ ने इसे भी परेशान कर दिया।

राजा क्रोधित हो गया और उसने न तो पानी पीने के लिए और न ही घोड़े को पीने की अनुमति देने के लिए बाज़ के पंख काट दिए। बाज़ दर्द से कराह उठा। इसने राजा का ध्यान पेड़ के ऊपर ऊपर पड़े जहरीले सांप की ओर खींचा। तब राजा ने महसूस किया कि टपकता तरल सांप से निकलने वाला जहर था। राजा को अपने वफादार और प्यारे बाज़ के पंख काटने के लिए पछतावा हुआ।

वह अपनी मुट्ठी पर बैठे बाज़ के साथ शिविर में लौट आया। जैसे ही वे शिविर में पहुँचे, उस बाज़ ने, जिसने तब तक दर्द सहा था, साँस लेने के लिए हांफने लगी और उसकी मृत्यु हो गई। राजा ने अपनी मूर्खतापूर्ण हरकत पर पछताया और अपने पालतू बाज़ की मौत पर जोर-जोर से रोया।
