About a hundred years ago, the great US President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This proclamation freed all Negro slaves. They were promised full rights and freedoms as citizens of the United States.

There is justice in America, but the Negroes are deprived of it. America has opulence but Negroes live in poverty. He lives in isolation like he lives in exile in his own country.

The urgency of the situation: Martin Luther says the Negro can't wait. any longer. This movement will continue till the Negro gets justice. there is no turning back. He says that those who think that the movement will end soon will surely get a harsh awakening. If the Negro is not granted the right of citizenship, the rebellion will continue and shake the foundation of the American nation.

Advice to his people: Martin Luther tells his people that he has suffered greatly in his search for justice. Some of them were prosecuted, beaten and jailed. He encourages them to continue their struggle, believing that unearned suffering is salvation. He tells his people that in their struggle they should do nothing wrong, no violence and nothing to create hatred and bitterness. He reminds them that whites are their friends and not their enemies.

'I have a dream': Martin Luther is confident that things will change despite difficulties and despair. He says that he has a dream. He says that a day will come when injustice and discrimination will end. The sons of Salve's former masters and the sons of former slaves would sit together as brothers.

He has a dream that one day white boys and girls will join hands with black boys and girls. He has a dream that one day they will all-black people and white people sing together, 'We are free'.
