The contribution of women in the 'Save Trees' campaign has been discussed. Forests are the backbone of the entire economy in the mountainous regions. In a village called Kangar, where women and children were not ready to cut any trees, on the other hand the forest department had hired men from the same village to cut trees. The struggle between men and women began, in the end women won. She formed a 'Mahilamangal Dal' and worked to revive the destroyed forests.

Contributing to the number of cattle in the family, he hired a forest ranger at a salary of 300 per month, but over time he became careless and eventually the women of the village took over the responsibility of saving the forest. At one point he agreed to the Forest Department's proposal to plant new trees, and he dug about 15,000 pits, but that's when he realized the Forest Department was an exotic commercial "poplar".

Wanting to plant trees, he protested and instead forced the forest department to plant native trees useful for animal feed. In this way, due to the struggle efforts of women in this mountainous region of Uttar Pradesh, now the forests are being revived, which will also help in agriculture and animal husbandry and the problems of flood and soil erosion will also be controlled. These collective forest conservation plans have had an impact on the surrounding villages as well and have become the most effective way of carrying out this urgent national task.

इन सभी मजबूत आंदोलनों ने सरकार को अपनी रणनीति बदलने के बारे में भी सोचने पर मजबूर कर दिया। इस आंदोलन ने हरे भरे जंगलों को बचाया और पर्यावरण की रक्षा की। टिहरी-गढ़वाल की महिलाओं को चारा, खाना पकाने के ईंधन और पानी के लिए लंबी दूरी तय करनी पड़ती थी। इसलिए उन्होंने इन लुप्तप्राय जंगलों को बचाने और पुनर्जीवित करने का फैसला किया।

उन्होंने जंगल की सुरक्षा को अपना नैतिक दायित्व माना। कांगड़ नामक गांव में जहां एक तरफ महिलाएं और बच्चे कोई पेड़ काटने को तैयार नहीं थे वहीं दूसरी तरफ वन विभाग ने उसी गांव के पुरुषों को पेड़ काटने के लिए काम पर रखा था. महिला और पुरुष के बीच संघर्ष शुरू हुआ, अंत में महिलाओं की जीत हुई। उन्होंने एक 'महिलामंगल दल' का गठन किया और नष्ट हुए जंगलों को पुनर्जीवित करने का कार्य किया।

परिवार में मवेशियों की संख्या में योगदान करते हुए, उन्होंने 300 प्रति माह के वेतन पर एक वन रेंजर को काम पर रखा, लेकिन समय के साथ वह लापरवाह हो गया और अंततः गांव की महिलाओं ने जंगल को बचाने की जिम्मेदारी संभाली। एक समय पर वे वन विभाग के नए पेड़ लगाने के प्रस्ताव से सहमत हुए, और उन्होंने लगभग 15,000 गड्ढे खोदे, लेकिन जब उन्हें एहसास हुआ कि वन विभाग एक विदेशी वाणिज्यिक "चिनार" है।

पेड़ लगाना चाहते थे, उन्होंने विरोध किया और इसके बजाय वन विभाग को जानवरों के चारे के लिए उपयोगी देशी पेड़ लगाने के लिए मजबूर किया। इस प्रकार उत्तर प्रदेश के इस पर्वतीय क्षेत्र में महिलाओं के संघर्षपूर्ण प्रयासों से अब वनों को पुनर्जीवित किया जा रहा है, जिससे कृषि एवं पशुपालन को भी सहायता मिलेगी तथा बाढ़ एवं भू-क्षरण की समस्याओं पर भी नियंत्रण होगा। इन सामूहिक वन संरक्षण योजनाओं का आसपास के गांवों पर भी प्रभाव पड़ा है और यह इस जरूरी राष्ट्रीय कार्य को अंजाम देने का सबसे प्रभावी तरीका बन गया है।
