'Echo' relates to a very simple human experience, which is how any sound resonates. The speaker stood in the forest and said who called? As soon as it was spoken, the sound came back 'Who called? Who said. Actually the speaker's voice passed through clear open spaces in the forest. The voice of 'who called' was heard in the atmosphere. The birds were shocked that they could not locate the source of the sound. The speaker was no less confused as to how his words resonated, what was it that returned his sound?

The speaker was standing in the open space of the dense forest. He imagines his voice reaching the leaves of the farthest branches of the trees. It was as if those leaves were passing it on to the sun. The air was black under the trees. Where he said, who cried loudly, the leaves began to hiss, the dark wind carried his cry to the area that the speaker did not know.

In the third stanza of the poem the poet imagines as if behind Rees were some mysterious creatures who were watching him but he could not recognize them. Perhaps the same mysterious creatures had turned back his call. His simple 'that which was called' as he was jokingly returned.

The speaker probably did not like this sarcastic tone. He reacted sharply and cried in his shrill voice who cares The wind slackened once again his voice reflected back and who cares, who cares? The whole forest reverberated. The speaker heard his own cry.

'इको' एक बहुत ही सरल मानवीय अनुभव से संबंधित है, इस प्रकार कोई भी ध्वनि प्रतिध्वनित होती है। वक्ता ने जंगल में खड़े होकर कहा कि किसने बुलाया? जैसे ही यह बोला गया, ध्वनि वापस आ गई 'किसने बुलाया? किसने कहा। दरअसल स्पीकर की आवाज जंगल में साफ खुली जगहों से होकर गुजरती थी। वातावरण में 'जिसने पुकारा' की आवाज सुनाई दी। पक्षी हैरान थे कि वे ध्वनि के स्रोत का पता नहीं लगा सके। वक्ता भी कम भ्रमित नहीं था कि उसके शब्दों की प्रतिध्वनि कैसे हुई, वह कौन सी वस्तु थी जिसने उसकी ध्वनि लौटा दी?

वक्ता घने जंगल के खुले स्थान में खड़ा था। वह कल्पना करता है जैसे उसकी आवाज पेड़ों की सबसे दूर की शाखाओं की पत्तियों तक जाती है। ऐसा लग रहा था कि वे पत्ते इसे सूर्य पर पारित कर रहे थे। पेड़ों के नीचे हवा काली थी। जहां उसने कहा, जिसने जोर से पुकारा, पत्ते फुफकारने लगे, अंधेरी हवा उसके रोने को उस क्षेत्र तक ले गई जो वक्ता को नहीं पता था।

कविता के तीसरे छंद में कवि कल्पना करता है जैसे कि रीस के पीछे कुछ रहस्यमय जीव थे जो उसे देख रहे थे लेकिन वह उन्हें पहचान नहीं पा रहा था। शायद उन्हीं रहस्यमयी जीवों ने उसकी पुकार वापस कर दी थी। उनका सरल 'जो बुलाया गया था' के रूप में उन्हें मजाक में लौटा दिया गया था।

वक्ता को शायद यह उपहासपूर्ण स्वर पसंद नहीं आया। उसने तीखी प्रतिक्रिया की और अपनी तेज तीखी आवाज में रोया जो परवाह करता है हवा धीमी हो गई एक बार फिर उसकी आवाज वापस परिलक्षित हुई और कौन परवाह करता है, कौन परवाह करता है? पूरे जंगल में गूंज उठा। वक्ता ने अपने ही रोने का स्वर सुना।
