Once upon a time there lived a rich merchant. He had a lazy son. Father wanted him to know the value of labor. So, one day the father calls his son and says that go out and earn today or else you will not get dinner. The lazy boy was not used to doing any kind of work. He got scared and started crying beside his mother. Seeing the son crying, the mother's heart melted. He gave her a gold coin. In the evening, when the father asked what he had earned, the boy gave him the coin. When his father asked him to throw him in the well, he threw it.

The father was a wise man, he guessed that the coin was given by his wife. So he sent her to his parents' house. He then told his son to go out and earn. This time the sister gave him a one rupee coin. The boy shows the coin to his father and he asked him to throw it in the well and he did it again. The father then realized that someone had given him a coin. So he now sent his daughter to his in-laws' house. Once again he sent his son out to earn.

 

This time there was no one to help the boy. He went to the market in search of work. A shopkeeper offered him two rupees to take his bag to his home. The boy carried his bag, was sweating profusely, his legs were trembling and his neck and back were aching. He returned home and gave the money to his father.

His father again asked him to throw the coin in the well. The boy cried and told him that it was his hard earned money and would not throw it in the well, the merchant became very happy. The son promised never to be lazy. The father gave the key of the shop to the son. The son had realized the cost of hard work.

एक बार एक अमीर व्यापारी रहता था। उनका एक आलसी पुत्र था। पिता चाहते थे कि वह श्रम का मूल्य जानें। तो, एक दिन पिता अपने बेटे को बुलाकर कहता है कि आज बाहर जाकर कमाओ वरना रात का खाना नहीं मिलेगा। आलसी लड़के को किसी भी प्रकार का काम करने की आदत नहीं थी। वह डर गया और अपनी मां के पास रोने लगा। बेटे को रोता देख मां का दिल पिघल गया। उसने उसे एक सोने का सिक्का दिया। शाम को, पिता ने पूछा कि उसने क्या कमाया, लड़के ने उसे सिक्का दिया। पिता ने उसे कुएं में फेंकने को कहा तो उसने फेंक दिया।

पिता एक बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति थे, उन्होंने अनुमान लगाया कि सिक्का उनकी पत्नी ने दिया था। इसलिए उसने उसे उसके माता-पिता के घर भेज दिया। उसने फिर अपने बेटे से कहा कि बाहर जाकर कमाओ। इस बार बहन ने उसे एक रुपये का सिक्का दिया। लड़का अपने पिता को सिक्का दिखाता है और उसने उसे कुएं में फेंकने के लिए कहा और उसने फिर से ऐसा किया। पिता को फिर एहसास हुआ कि किसी ने उन्हें सिक्का दिया है। इसलिए उसने अब अपनी बेटी को उसके ससुराल भेज दिया। एक बार फिर उसने अपने बेटे को कमाने के लिए बाहर भेज दिया।

 

इस बार लड़के की मदद करने वाला कोई नहीं था। वह काम की तलाश में बाजार गया था। एक दुकानदार ने उसे अपना बैग अपने घर ले जाने के लिए दो रुपये की पेशकश की। लड़के ने अपना बैग ढोया, बहुत पसीना आ रहा था, उसके पैर कांप रहे थे और उसकी गर्दन और पीठ में दर्द हो रहा था। वह घर लौट आया और अपने पिता को पैसे दे दिया।

उसके पिता ने उसे फिर से सिक्का कुएं में फेंकने के लिए कहा। लड़का रोया और उससे कहा कि यह उसकी मेहनत की कमाई है और इसे कुएं में नहीं फेंकेगा, व्यापारी बहुत खुश हो गया। बेटे ने कभी आलसी नहीं होने का वादा किया। पिता ने दुकान की चाबी बेटे को दे दी। बेटे को मेहनत की कीमत का एहसास हो गया था।
