Channapatna is also known as 'Gombegala Uru'. Once when Dada went to Channapatna he visited 'Maya Organic' an NGO (Non-Government Organization) and saw the artisans working hard to earn a living from the wonderful art of making toys. Artisans made toys by cutting pieces of wood. ,

 

But nowadays, craftsmen use electric lathes to make toys. Channapatna toys are eco-friendly as only .regetable colors are used for coloring them. These toys are exported to many countries. Grandfather also met Mr. Girish, who had eighteen years of toy making experience. Mr. Girish told Grandfather that they were a family of toy makers and that they had made 'Sadabombe' (plain toys without colours).

Apart from the colorful toys, Channapatna is famous for the Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Kengal, next to the Bangalore-Mysore highway. Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri. Hanumantaiya, a resident of Kengal, had renovated this temple.

Other attractions of Chennapatna are Janpad Lok near Ramnagar. It is a museum for folklore, rural people. Janpad Lok was established by Dr. H.L. Nagegowda. Here rural young artists are given training in folk arts.
