Samarpita Mukherjee Sharma introduces the world's youngest headmaster - Babar Ali - to the readers in the text 'Babar Ali' with the words of Tanveer, a youth leader. Our pride lies in the fact that this sixteen year old headmaster is an Indian, hailing from Murshidabad, West Bengal. Babur Ali's father Nasiruddin Shaikh, a jute seller, though uneducated, believed in the idea that education was the true religion of man and sent Babur to school. Babur, a first generation learner, was an ideal student in the school.

But, what they did after school was more important than being studious or smart. With the awareness that he was one of the few lucky boys in the village, Babur was inspired to do something for his fellow youth, who were not privileged. So after school time, in the backyard of his house, in the open air, he started teaching children who wanted to learn but had no opportunity to do so and were denied the basic right to education .

Despite government aided education being free, other expenses on uniforms, books, etc. discouraged parents from sending their children to school. Therefore, the children made us maidservants, mechanics, daily wage workers, grass cutters, cattle herders, etc. Babar Ali had a different approach to these children. He wanted to teach children who were ready to walk miles to learn. Thus 'Anand Shiksha Niketan' came into existence. In fact, school started out as a game and soon turned into a serious pursuit as children enjoyed learning arithmetic. An institution that came into existence with only eight children and a young headmaster, in nine years' time, had 60 regular attendance, 10 volunteer teachers, 200 students on roll-calls, and 800 students in total. Fortunately, the school had well-wishers of teachers, IAS officers, social workers and religious leaders.

Above all, even the Government of West Bengal recognized the school. But, one must remember that the real strength of the school lies in the selfless service of ordinary people like Tulu Rani Hazra, an illiterate fisherman, who encouraged parents to send their children to school; Debarita, a college going teenager who had a great desire to help the underprivileged of the society by becoming a teacher. The strength of the school also lay in the fact that all teacher volunteers were students who used their free time to teach the less fortunate, and the fact that they were not much senior to the students, attracted the attention of their students. helped to do. ,

Thus, we see that the efforts of a single boy almost resulted in a revolution in the field of education and made people believe in the ideal that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary achievements.
