President Barack Obama, while addressing his daughters Malia and Sasha, writes that in the last two years, when they were campaigning across America, both of them had a lot of fun. Both went to picnics, parades and state fairs.

He ate all kinds of junk food which his parents did not allow him to eat. He feels sad because he could not spend much time with them and for the last two years he was missing them all the time.

He writes that he has decided to tell them why he had taken the family on a trip to Oh. He remembers his younger days and used to think that life is only about himself and being successful. But after the birth of Malia and Sasha, he realized that his own life didn't matter much until he made sure he had every opportunity for happiness and fulfillment.

So he decided to run for president, because that's what he wanted for his kids and every other kid in America.
Obama writes that he wants all children to go to the best of their ability – schools that challenge and inspire children. He wants them to go to college, even if they can't afford a college education, he wants them to get a good paying job. Jobs that offer health benefits and allow them to spend time with their children and retire with dignity.

Obama writes about his vision. He envisions that children will live to see new technologies and inventions that improve living standards and make the earth cleaner and safer. He wants his children to reach beyond the divisions of race and region, gender and religion, which keep everyone from seeing the best in each other.
