A fair was held every year on the occasion of Eid in the village of Rashid, the narrator. Although Eid was celebrated for one day, the fair lasted for several days. There were merchants who used to bring goods ranging from mall pins to buffaloes from far and wide.

His uncle took the narrator to the fair. His brother, who worked at his house, was with him. The uncle met at a fair some distance away and asked the narrator to go for a walk with his brother. They also warned him not to buy anything in his absence.

Bhaiya and Rashid roamed from one shop to another until they reached a shop named Lucky Shop. The owner was a middle-aged man and he wanted everyone to try their luck. An old man tried his luck and won 15 for the watch he had won.

A little boy also won several awards. He left with a smile and a lot of money. Rashid, who wanted to try his luck, was encouraged by Bhaiya to play the game. Rashid kept trying until he lost all the money he had. When they met the uncle, he asked Rashid the reason for his misery. Bhaiya told uncle what had happened. Hearing what had happened, Uncle smiled, patted Rashid and bought him several expensive gifts.

Back home, Chacha explains to Rashid that Lucky Shop owner has cheated him. The people who won the prize were friends of the shop owner. What happened to Rashid was not bad luck. The owner and his friends trick Rashid into trying his luck. They wanted Rashid's money and got it. Chacha advises Rashid to forget about the incident.

कथावाचक रशीद के गाँव में प्रतिवर्ष ईद के अवसर पर मेला लगता था। हालांकि ईद एक दिन तक मनाई गई, यह मेला कई दिनों तक चला। इसमें व्यापारी थे जो दूर-दूर से मॉल पिन से लेकर भैंस तक का सामान लेकर आते थे।

कथावाचक को उसके चाचा मेले में ले गए। उनके घर पर काम करने वाले भैया उनके साथ थे। चाचा कुछ दूर मेले में मिले और कथाकार को भैया के साथ घूमने के लिए कहा। उन्होंने उसे चेतावनी भी दी कि उसकी अनुपस्थिति में कुछ भी न खरीदें।

भैया और रशीद एक दुकान से दूसरी दुकान तब तक घूमते रहे जब तक कि वे लकी शॉप नाम की एक दुकान पर नहीं पहुंच गए। मालिक एक अधेड़ उम्र का आदमी था और वह चाहता था कि हर कोई अपनी किस्मत आजमाए। एक बूढ़े आदमी ने अपनी किस्मत आजमाई और जो घड़ी उसने जीती थी उसके बदले में उसने 15 जीते।

एक छोटे लड़के ने भी कई पुरस्कार जीते। वह एक मुस्कान और बहुत सारा पैसा लेकर चला गया। रशीद जो अपनी किस्मत आजमाना चाहता था, उसे भैया ने खेल खेलने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया। रशीद तब तक कोशिश करता रहा जब तक कि उसके पास मौजूद सारे पैसे नहीं खो गए। जब वे चाचा से मिले, तो उन्होंने रशीद से उनके दुख का कारण पूछा। भैया ने चाचा को बताया कि क्या हुआ था। जो कुछ हुआ था उसे सुनकर, अंकल मुस्कुराए, रशीद को थपथपाया और उसे कई महंगे उपहार खरीदे।

घर वापस, चाचा ने रशीद को समझाया कि लकी शॉप के मालिक ने उसे धोखा दिया है। जिन लोगों ने इनाम जीता था, वे दुकान के मालिक के दोस्त थे। रशीद के साथ जो हुआ वह दुर्भाग्य नहीं था। मालिक और उसके दोस्तों ने रशीद को अपनी किस्मत आजमाने के लिए बरगलाया। उन्हें रशीद का पैसा चाहिए था और मिल गया। चाचा ने रशीद को घटना के बारे में भूल जाने की सलाह दी।
