कहानी रोहन नाम के एक युवा लड़के के इर्द-गिर्द घूमती है, जिसका जन्मदिन उनके मुंके टिमपेटु है। रोहन का जन्मदिन नजदीक आ रहा था। वह टेबल टेनिस का एक सेट चाहता था, जिसे वह जानता था कि उसके माता-पिता बर्दाश्त नहीं कर सकते। उन्होंने अपने करीबी दोस्त मुक को अपनी इच्छा व्यक्त की, जिन्होंने उनसे कहा कि अगर उन्हें वास्तव में सेट चाहिए, तो उन्हें 'उन्के मुंके टिमपेटु' कहकर आधी रात को सत्रह बार एक बरगद के पेड़ के चारों ओर जाना होगा। पहले तो वह डर गया लेकिन उसने अपनी पूर्व प्रिंसिपल श्रीमती ग्रोवर के इकलौते बरगद के पेड़ के आसपास अपनी किस्मत आजमाने का फैसला किया।

अपने जन्मदिन से एक दिन पहले वह अपने दोस्त के साथ बरगद के पेड़ पर जाते हैं। जब श्रीमती ग्रोवर बाहर आती हैं, रोहन लगभग अपना चक्कर पूरा कर लेता है और रोहन उसे समझाता है कि वह क्या कर रहा था और क्यों कर रहा था। अगले दिन अपने जन्मदिन के तोहफे के साथ उसे मनचाहा उपहार मिलता है। केवल यह बिल्कुल नया नहीं था। उसे कोई आपत्ति नहीं थी। वह सोचता है कि उसे टेबल टेनिस सेट किसने भेजा। वह श्रीमती ग्रोवर से पूछने का फैसला करता है लेकिन हिम्मत नहीं करता। फिर उन्होंने पूछा कि क्या वह "उनके मुंके टिमपेटु" गाने में विश्वास करती हैं, जिसके लिए उन्होंने हां कहा। रोहन, मुक और मिसेज ग्रोवर अच्छे दोस्त बन गए।
