कविता 'द डोंकी' एक नवजात गधे के व्यवहार का वर्णन करती है जिसके लिए जीवन एक नया अनुभव है क्योंकि वह अपने जीवन का पहला कदम उठाता है। वह लक्ष्यहीन रूप से आगे बढ़ने की कोशिश करता है, उसका बड़ा सिर और ढीले पैर हिलने से उसके लिए ऐसा करना मुश्किल हो जाता है। कवि इस उम्मीद के साथ कविता समाप्त करता है कि उसके आसपास की दुनिया (गधे का बच्चा) उसकी देखभाल करेगी।

‘द गाढव’ या कवितेमध्ये नवजात गाढवाच्या वर्तनाचे वर्णन केले आहे ज्याच्यासाठी जीवन हा एक नवीन अनुभव आहे कारण तो त्याच्या आयुष्याची पहिली पावले उचलत आहे. तो अनाठायीपणे फिरण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो, त्याचे मोठे डोके आणि हलणारे सैल पाय यामुळे त्याला तसे करणे अधिक कठीण होते. कवितेचा शेवट कवीने या आशेने केला की पाळणाभोवतीचे जग (गाढवाचे बाळ) त्याच्याशी काळजी घेईल.
