He requests that he come to ask for the hand of his daughter Natalya Stepanovna in marriage. Chubukov cheers up and hugs Lomov. He also gives his blessings. Chubukov goes to call Natalya. Lomov is alone. He starts thinking about himself, his age and heart rate etc.

Natalya's arrival and her discussion with Lomov: Natalya arrives and the two have a discussion. Lomov is excited and tells that he has made up his mind to ask her to listen briefly. These words enraged Lomov and he said that he was not a fool to call his land theirs (Chubukov's). He called her a grabber. Natalya told that the fields of these bulls would not be left.

Threats by Lomov: Lomov threatened that he would go to court and show them the reality.
