Letter to Cork Summary in English
Here we have uploaded the Letter to Cork Summary in English for students. This will help students to learn quickly in English and Hindi language.
The author, in his letter to his friend, describes an animal (elephant) commonly known as the largest animal in the universe. He thinks that the details will be a matter of excitement and surprise as well as entertainment. He gives a lively description of the physical appearance of the elephant. It is twelve to fifteen feet high and seven feet wide. He describes each part of this huge animal. Surprisingly, its eyes are very small in comparison to its body and other organs. As far as its teeth are concerned, they are of two types - one is grinder and the other is showing. Externally, teeth in males are relatively stronger and larger than those in females. The teeth of males sometimes grow to a length of ten feet. This mighty animal is so strong that it can lift a prodigious weight. It is so delicate in the sense of sensation that it can lift even the smallest piece of coin from the ground. It is very happy in water. It can swim wonderfully.
Elephants live near hills and lakes where food and water are available. People dug deep trenches in their direction to capture them and hid them with reeds covered with mud and grass. Elephants, on their way to places of water, unaware of the danger before them, fall into pits. These people often risk their lives in the execution of such dangerous projects. Older elephants sometimes escape danger while younger elephants become easy prey. For a few days they are kept without food so that they cannot resist. Applying the technique, they are tamed. They manage to learn instructions from their masters.
Elephants are usually sold by measure. Some of those animals, which are young and well trained, are bought at the rate of Rs 150 per hand. They are measured from head to tail.
Next to the elephant, in relation to the figure, is the rhinoceros. It is called modern Indian Abudu. It is like a wild boar but much larger than a wild boar.
In the eastern regions there is another useful animal known as the camel, which is useful either for carrying or sending. It travels at least seven or eight miles per hour.
