Jalebi Part 1 Summary of Lessons
The narrator shares an anecdote from when he studied in class V in a government school in Attock. She was given four rupees to pay the school fees to her teacher, Master Ghulam Mohammad. But due to his absence, he had to return with the money.

While he was on his way, he heard the coins speak which was nothing but the mind of a playful child. He tried to convince himself with logic and understanding that coins would not talk. But logic failed, his other mind talked about fresh jalebis which are meant to be eaten and only money can buy it for him.

However, his honesty and obedience to his elders defied the sound of temptation and coinsurance. He rebuked the coins and said that it is not good to see things as he is getting so much at home.

Secondly it was his fees which he could not spend on other things. He was afraid of God. Thirdly, the teacher can give the harshest punishment to him without any thought.

Coins disliked his logic and hesitation. When the coins were making noise among themselves, he came to his senses. He held them tightly. After walking a few steps, he loosened his grip.

One coin complained that he was strangling them to speak in his favour. It advised him to pay the fee amount from the scholarship amount received every month.

The boy was tempted for a while after hearing that the coin repeated that the jalebis were sweets filled with sugar syrup. Then he remembered the pride and prestige he had earned in his school.

He used to get a scholarship of four rupees a month and his family was respectable. He did not want to be punished for the jalebis, so his head again won over his heart.

He reached his house and ate well. But surrendered to his house and ate well. But surrendering to his temptation, he ran towards the market and bought jalebis for one rupee. The confectioner gave him a packet of jalebi wrapped in newspaper.

The next morning was a fresh and normal one. He picked up his chalk and slate. He pacified himself by saying that he would pay the fee from the scholarship amount. He usually meets on time.

However, he was shocked when he learned that his scholarship would be paid the following month. Later the teacher announced that he would deposit the fee amount in the leave.

Distraught with his guilt, he picked up his bag and left the school. He was depressed and prayed to God because he knew that God could be his savior and only hope. He promised that he would never eat jalebi. Lost in his thoughts, he reached the point from where Kambelpur railway station had started.

His elders had warned him never to cross the railway track. He sat under a tree and was repenting because he had disobeyed the orders of the elders. He was almost on the verge of breaking down.

He prayed to God and accepted his mistake. Disappointed and disappointed, he left for home. On the way, Jalebiwala again asked for Jalebi from him. But he went ahead silently. The next day instead of going to school, he sat under the same tree at the railway station.
