This story is about a meeting between two disabled people. Both were exceptional in their respective fields. Stephen Hawking was a great scientist, although he suffered from paralysis.

He can only speak through a computer and may be confined to a wheelchair. Mumbai-based writer and journalist Firdous Kanga was born with very weak and easily broken bones. He walked around in a wheelchair.

The two met at Stephens' place in England. He discussed about the approach of ordinary people to the handicapped. The writer Firdous was on a walking tour of Britain via Cambridge.

He learned about Hawking from his guide, Hawking was sitting in Newton's chair at the University. He wrote one of the best sellers 'A Brief History of Time'.

Firdaus called Hawking and got an appointment with him for half an hour. It was exhilarating for Paradise to meet someone like myself in a wheelchair. Both of them were handicapped.

Their bodies were disintegrating but their minds were sharp. Hawking had small switches in his hand. He was able to move his finger to find the words on the computer.

When Paradise asked Hawking why 'people often thought that people with disabilities were unhappy people'. 'I find it amusing when people patronize me', Hawking replied. He was a very practical person, he did not think anything good about being handicapped.

He admitted that it is very painful when another handicapped person comes and harassed him in his work. Seeing the poor condition of the great scientists, Firdaus was relieved because he could neither walk nor stand.

Hawking did not like the idea of a disabled Olympics. According to him it is a waste of time. His advice is that they should focus on what they are good at.

They spent an hour together instead of half an hour; Had tea and saw his garden. At the time of departure, Paradise got up to say goodbye. But he could neither kiss nor cry. He assured that the paralyzed scientist was a symbol of bravery.
