जून - 27: तेंदुआ जैसे जानवरों का आगमन और बारिश से चिह्नित हजारों जोंक। तेंदुए ने स्कूल के नीचे नौकर क्वार्टर से एक कुत्ते को उठा लिया। बारिश के कारण कीट खाने वाले पक्षियों को भोजन की कोई कमी नहीं थी।

2 अगस्त : पूरी रात बारिश टिन की छत पर ढलती रही। लेकिन कोई बौछार नहीं थी, कोई गड़गड़ाहट नहीं थी।

3 अगस्त : सीटी बजने के गीत दिखाई देते हैं, बारिश थम जाती है और बादल छंटने लगते हैं।

12 अगस्त : वातावरण धुंध और अंतहीन बारिश से घिरा हुआ है। लेखक कहीं नहीं जा सकता। उसने खिड़की से बाहर देखा।

31 अगस्त : सांप और कृंतक अपने बाढ़ वाले घरों से बाहर निकल आए। वे छत और गोदामों की शरण में चले गए। दादी ने बच्चों को 'चुचुंदर' को मारने के लिए रोका क्योंकि वे भाग्य और धन के प्रतीक हैं।
