It's summer. Santosh's vacation has begun. His parents go to his parents' village, Sirumalai. Santosh is excited. He records an audio diary on his mother's phone. I am very eager to go to my grandparents ’village. I will meet my grandparents and cousins. I packed my clothes and tape to play the video game. We will travel by bus. I am very happy.

Today we travel. Although it is summer, the weather is pleasant in the morning. On either side of the road are numerous trees with yellow flowers. Green all around. There are many white cranes in the green paddy fields. The crows in the fields were frightened and chased away. There is no traffic, noise and air pollution in the village.

I get off the bus and run to meet my grandparents. They want to see me. Many large trees around the house. There are a few jack, mango, neem, banana, pomegranate and coconut trees. The trees have plenty of fruit. My grandfather plucked some ripe mangoes for me. Mangoes are very juicy and sweet.

I woke up early today. I'm out for a walk in the morning. The cool air is nice. Coconut trees dance lazily. Farmers are already in their fields. Some mow the crops and some thresh the paddy. The air is filled with the sweet sounds of birds singing in the trees and bushes. Cuckoo's song is probably the most mesmerizing.

When I get home, I will have the most delicious breakfast of my life. Then, my grandmother introduces a girl, puppet. She goes to the village school. She lives on the street. She is so eager to show me around the village. Puppet shows how to play with a tire and stick. We balance the tire with a small stick and run happily on the tracks. We stop talking to Pavai's friends Amir, Peter and Umayyad.

All the kids here have summer vacations. Aamir helps his father in milking the cows. He tapped his black calf Peter, and Umayyad sat down with their grandmother to break the peanuts and stack them neatly. The pods are then taken to the village market and sold. I help them for some time.

Puppet takes me to the village pool and there are a lot of kids splashing in the pool. Some boys are climbing to the top of a tall fig tree. Women play hide and seek near the big banyan tree.

My mom and aunts took me to the river and took a bath. I play in the cold water for a while, but I can not swim. So, I sit on a soft rock and watch my friends swim like experts. They talk and laugh a lot as they wash clothes in the sun and dry their hair. The river is so clean I can see pebbles and colorful fish swimming on the riverbank. I like the scenery.

We return to our home in the city. The trip to our grandparents home was so much fun. Those two days ran fast. I felt it during this stay. I do not watch TV or play video games. I look forward to our next visit.
