The Journey to the Great Oz is a children's science fiction novel, written by Lyman Frank Baum (1856-1919). There was a movie based on this classic novel. This story takes you to the fantasy world of magicians, sorcerers, monsters and magic where one imagines the impossible.

The story revolves around Dorothy and her dog Toto who were swept away by a hurricane in the land of Oz. There she meets Tin Woodman, who needs a heart, a scarecrow who needs a brain, and a lion who needs bravery.

The one who can meet their needs is the Wizard of Oz, who lives in the Emerald City of Oz. The four passengers begin their journey and soon arrive in a large pit. The lion carries each passenger on its back to the other side of the ditch.

They keep on traveling and soon fall into a deep pit. Scarecrow comes out with the idea of cutting down a tree near the moat. Tin Woodman breaks the tree across the pit.

Somehow the four passengers reach the other side with the help of a tree bridge. As they reach the other side, Kalida chases after them some great creatures with bear-like bodies and tiger-like heads. Scarecrow puts on his thinking cap and tells Tin Woodman to cut down the end of the tree resting on his side.

The tree crashes into the creek and kills the reptiles. Travelers start walking again and soon they come across a wide river and across the river they can see the beautiful country of Oz.
