गगनपूर येथे एक कुटुंब राहत होते. स्मिता सोळा वर्षांची होती. तिला अनंत नावाचा भाऊ होता तो पंधरा वर्षांचा होता. तिला चांगले पालक होते. चार सदस्यांचे ते छोटेसे कुटुंब होते.

अनंत हा शाळेतील सर्वोत्कृष्ट टेबल टेनिसपटू आणि वेगवान धावपटू होता. बहिण स्मिता हिच्यासोबत त्यांनी सितारचे धडेही घेतले. अनेक गोष्टींमध्ये तो तिच्यापेक्षा सरस होता. त्यांनी स्वतःचे संगीत सूर तयार केले ज्यामुळे त्यांचे गुरू आश्चर्यचकित झाले. त्यांना संगीताची आवड होती आणि सतारची खरी आवड होती. त्याची कीर्ती झपाट्याने वाढत गेली, परंतु त्याच्या नशिबाचा क्रूर हात होता. कॅन्सर या जीवघेण्या आजाराने ग्रासले आणि कुटुंब चिंतेत पडले.

एके दिवशी स्मिताला कळले (वृत्तपत्र वाचून) पंडित रविशंकर त्यांच्या षणमुख-आनंद सभागृहात मैफिलीच्या कार्यक्रमासाठी येणार आहेत. ती खूप उत्साहित झाली आणि तिने ही बातमी आईला सांगितली. अनंत झोपला होता म्हणून तिच्या आईने तिला गप्प म्हणायला सांगितले पण पंडित रविशंकर यांच्या मैफिलीबद्दल कळल्यावर अनंतला जाग आली आणि त्याने त्याला जाऊन बघण्याची इच्छा व्यक्त केली.

पंडित रविशंकर यांच्या आगमनाने त्यांना नवीन बळ मिळाले पण त्यांच्या आईने त्यांचे सांत्वन केले. अनंत म्हणाला, “ही आयुष्यभराची संधी आहे”. सतारवादक ऐकणे हीच त्याला मिळण्याची एकमेव संधी आहे. स्मितानेही ऐकले पण काळजी वाटली. तिने आपल्या भावाची इच्छा पूर्ण करण्याचा विचार केला.

ती पायऱ्या चढली आणि अजिबात संकोच केली नाही. पंडित रविशंकर हे संगीताचे महान मांत्रिक उस्ताद अल्ला रखा यांच्यासोबत उभे होते. ती त्याच्याकडे गेली आणि हात जोडून तिच्या भावाची गोष्ट त्यांना सांगून बाहेर पडली. त्यावेळी मिशीवाल्या माणसाने तिला पंडित रविशंकर यांना त्रास देऊ नकोस असे सांगितले. पण पंडित रविशंकर यांना सर्व काही समजले.

त्यांनी उस्ताद अल्ला राखा यांच्याशी चर्चा केली त्यांनी लगेच होकार दिला आणि ते स्मिताच्या घरी गेले. त्यांची मैफल सुरू झाली. सिलेंडरमधून ऑक्सिजनचा श्वास घेत अनंत जागा झाला. ते त्या मुलासाठी खेळले जो खूप आनंदी होता आणि त्याचा जीव त्याच्यापासून हळूवारपणे निघून गेला. अनंतची महत्त्वाकांक्षा किंवा त्याची शेवटची इच्छा तिने पूर्ण केल्यामुळे स्मिथला हायसे वाटले.

His parents went to Mumbai with Anant for treatment and he was staying with his aunt Sushila. Family members believed that Infinity would heal and he would resume his work as before. But Anant's condition worsened and the doctor told him to take Anant home and make him happy by giving him whatever he wanted. The members of the household kept it a secret and proceeded as usual to grant his wish. Smita knew the horrible truth that her brother was going to die but she pretended that everything would be fine.

One day Smita came to know (reading the newspaper) that Pandit Ravi Shankar was coming to his Shanmukh-Anand Hall for a concert. She was very excited and told her mother the news. As Anant was asleep, her mother told her to keep quiet, but when she found out about Pandit Ravi Shankar's concert, Anant woke up and wanted to see her.

The arrival of Pandit Ravi Shankar gave him new strength but his mother comforted him. Anant said, 'This is a lifelong opportunity.' Listening to a satar player is his only chance. Smitha also listened but was worried. She thought of fulfilling her brother's wish.

She had gone to a concert with her father and Anant knew it was impossible to go. So he said, 'Enjoy yourself.' Smita enjoyed the music. She felt enchanted and the doors of wonder opened. She heard the outburst of anger but at the same time

She remembered her brother's wish. It was a great concert and the audience stood and admired the performers. The big mustache made a long boring speech. The bouquet was then presented. Then people started coming out. Smita decided to meet satar player Pandit Ravi Shankar.
